Hello there!! Does anybody know if I can upgrade a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server from 2.6.1 to 2.7.1? Or if I can have a NetBackup Appliance 5230 configured as master server with version 2.7.1? I try to find the information in SORT, but I don't realle understand if a 5230 master server can have 2.7.1 or not: "NetBackup 5200 Series Appliances running 2.x or later can be used as back-level media servers in a NetBackup 7.7.x configuration. NetBackup Appliance and NetBackup versions will resynchronize in future releases." And one more question, does anybody know how can I determine if I need to use a 4 Tb or a 14 Tb master server? Thanks!!Solved2.4KViews1like3CommentsFailed to expand/resize AdvanceDisk in 5330 appliance

Hello Everybody, I am facing with a problem when duplicating an AIR replcated backup with this message on the bptm log. write_backup: cannot add fragment to image database, error = no entity was found The enviroment is as follow: there are two Veritas Appliances distributed on two different sites. Each of the Appliances has its own Netbackup Domain. The SLPs for AIR was implemented to do backup locally, replicate backups to the remotely Applianbcesand lastly duplicate the replicated backups to tape. The locally SLP has Backup and Replicate operation and the remotely has import and duplicate operations. On the remote Appliance the import has done successfully but when runthe duplication job it finishes whit the error 227 / 191 I have read this technote https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH55980 but the problem still is present. Hi Guys, Im taking oracle backups but jobs are taking too long, these oracle instances are on AIX 7.1 and are running on IBM Power 8. I need to know if there is a way to zone this hardware with 5230 appliance in orden to take SAN backups, because POWER 8 has HBA cards. How the zoning would go??Solved1.3KViews0likes7Commentsnetbackup unable to resolve hostname, no hostname alias added to pem name manager.
Hi, I see the below error on my problems report: netbackup unable to resolve hostname <hostname>, no hostname alias added to pem name manager. Now there's about 16 of these servers and they have all been decommissioned and they are not associated with any policy and they are not under client's host properties on the GUI. Upon searching under the /usr/openv/netbackup/db/client directory, all 16 of these client folders are still in there. Is it OK to just remove/delete these client folders on this directory? Or is there another way of getting rid of these error? Regards4.1KViews0likes4CommentsZoning Aix to Netbackup 5230
Hi guys, I just create a zone between AIX (LPAR), 5230 appliance and a storage like this As you can the AIXserver has two FC adapter each one belongs to a zone, butsometimes I lose visibility from netbackup so I have to go to the client and run cfgmgr command or even restart clients services. Then on AIX server I run some commands like this root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>lsdev -Cc tape The output Im getting is: rmt0 Available 42-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt1 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive rmt2 Available 44-T1-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive [root@PRECBPHCDB]:/usr/openv/netbackup/bin>tail It is normal to get"Other FC SCSI Tape drive". Should I install a Veritas driver o something like that?561Views0likes1CommentHow to zone Vmware Datastore LUN to Backup Host
Dear Experts Master Server : Windows Media Server ( acting as appliance 5230 as well) : Linux Storage : Hitachi HUS Array Vmware backup failing with status 23 ( policy set to use SAN transport mode). I have gone through few good articles , but I can't find how to zone Vmware datastore LUN to Backup host /Appliance. In the environment only backups working which are on datastore_01, but other datastores like 02 - 05 won't work , failed with status 23. When I go on CLISH , Manage > FibreChannel > Show , I only see Device path and ID for datastore_01 only, so that tells me Datastore 02 - 05 must added here somehow, but how and from where , that is my question. In one of the article I read, below statement " Not just zoning the volumes to the appliance you need to add mapping for the volumes so that the actual datastore volumes are seen by the appliance " But how to do , what command, and from where need to do ? Please advise solution....2KViews0likes3CommentsExchange backup takes too much time
