Solaris OS compatibility for SFHA Version 4.1
Hi All, Arch=Sparc OS=Solaris 10 Release=3/05 Initial Release SFHA=VCS,VxVM,VxFS Version=4.1 I'm planning to upgrade Solaris host from Initial Release to Latest Release (Solaris 10 1/13 Update 11). Also the host is running VxVM,VxFS & VCS everything verson 4.1 After Solaris Upgrade to latest release will SFHA 4.1 work fine. Will VCS Service Groups come online and VxFS file systems get mounted whilerunning 4.1 ? Kindly note that only for testing purpose i want to know this. Once Solaris is upgraded I will also upgrade SFHA to version 5.1SP1RP4 or to version 6. Reply is highly appreciated. Danish.Solved1.1KViews0likes2CommentsSupport using SFHA 6.1 for Java GUIs
Can Symantec clarify Support for SFHA 6.1 for Java GUIs: "Veritas Enterprise Administrator 3.4.30READ ME (Solaris)"fromhttps://www4.symantec.com/Vrt/offer?a_id=89446 says: SUPPORTED PLATFORMS ----------------------------------- Operating Systems (OS): Solaris Sparc OS Versions : 8, 9, 10 BASE PRODUCT VERSIONS (Install this package only on following base versions) ----------------------------------- * Veritas Storage Foundation 4.1, 5.0, 5.1, 6.0 and its minor releases (Minor releases include Service packs, Maintenance packs, Rolling patches etc.) So support is not listed for 6.1, however the SFHA install guide for 6.1 Solaris says: The Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) console is no longer packaged with Storage Foundation products. If you want to continue using VEA, a software version is available for download from http://www.symantec.com/operations-manager/support. Symantec Storage Foundation Management Server is deprecated. If you want to manage a single cluster using Cluster Manager (Java Console), a version is available for download fromhttp://www.symantec.com/operations-manager/support. You cannot manage the new features of this release using the Java Console. Symantec Cluster Server Management Console is deprecated. So this is saying both VEA and Java GUI are supported and VCS Java GUI does not support new features, but the same is not said about VEA. So can you answer the following: Is management of SF 6.1 for UNIX/Linux supported with the UNIX/Linux VEA3.4.30 client Is management of SF 6.1 for UNIX/Linux supported with the Windows VEA3.4.35 client CanUNIX/Linux/Windows VEA clients be used to manage new features introduced in SF 6.1 Is management of VCS 6.1 for UNIX/Linux supported with the UNIX/Linux VCS Java Console 6.0.1 client Is management of VCS 6.1 for UNIX/Linux supported with the Windows VCS Java Console 6.0.1 client Is simultating 6.1 VCSUNIX/Linux clusters supported in the WindowsVCS Simulator 6.1client Thanks Mike1.9KViews2likes5CommentsProduct compatibility matrix for Storage foundation and cluster server
I am part of a services Org. in IBM that delivers solutions on POWER AIX systems. We have some very large enterprises which use both VCS and VSF products. I am trying to find an updated product compatibility matrix showing the following: List which VCS and VSF version and release levels are supported or compatible with current versions of PowerVM Virtual IO Server (version and release). VSF documentation indicates support for "OS Logical volume managers" (LVM and PowerVM Live Partition mobility (LPM). I would like to know any AIX, VCS or VSF version and release dependencies to enable the OS LVM and PowerVM LPM functions within Storage foundation and Cluster server.Solved2.1KViews1like4CommentsShare Filesystems between SCO Openserver and AIX with SF V6
Hello, I would like to share FS between SCO Openserver v6 and AIX (+ Basic Storage Foundation V6.0.3). I created some filesytems on SCO Openserver and maps this LUN to a AIX servers (using SAN capabilities). The servers didn't share the same LUN in the sametime. # lspv .... hdisk18 none None # vxdisk scandisks # vxdisk -e list DEVICE TYPE DISK GROUP STATUS OS_NATIVE_NAME ATTR .... san_vc1_9 auto:none - - online invalid hdisk18 - The disk is online but invalid. I suppose that VxFS on SCO Openserver is not compatible with SF 6. But is it true ? and is there a way to solve that ? I am currently preparing to exchange two old SLES 9 systems by new SLES 11 machines. These new ones have SF 6.0 Basic and are able to see and read (dd) the disks currently being in production by the SLES9 systems (SAN FC ones). The disks are Version 120 originally created and in use by SF4.1: # vxdisk list isar1_sas_2 Device: isar1_sas_2 devicetag: isar1_sas_2 type: simple hostid: example4 disk: name=isar1_sas_2 id=1341261625.7.riser5 group: name=varemadg id=1339445883.17.riser5 flags: online ready private foreign autoimport imported pubpaths: block=/dev/disk/by-name/isar1_sas_2 char=/dev/disk/by-name/isar1_sas_2 version: 2.1 iosize: min=512 (bytes) max=1024 (blocks) public: slice=0 offset=2049 len=33552383 disk_offset=0 private: slice=0 offset=1 len=2048 disk_offset=0 update: time=1372290815 seqno=0.83 ssb: actual_seqno=0.0 headers: 0 248 configs: count=1 len=1481 logs: count=1 len=224 Defined regions: config priv 000017-000247[000231]: copy=01 offset=000000 enabled config priv 000249-001498[001250]: copy=01 offset=000231 enabled log priv 001499-001722[000224]: copy=01 offset=000000 enabled # vxdg list varemadg | grep version version: 120 But when I look in the new systems SF6.0 does not recognize the diskgroups at all: # vxdisk list isar1_sas_2 Device: isar1_sas_2 devicetag: isar1_sas_2 type: auto info: format=none flags: online ready private autoconfig invalid pubpaths: block=/dev/vx/dmp/isar1_sas_2 char=/dev/vx/rdmp/isar1_sas_2 guid: - udid: Promise%5FVTrak%20E610f%5F49534520000000000000%5F22C90001557951EC site: - When I am doing a hexdump of the first few sectors it looks pretty much the same on both machines. According to articles like TECH174882 SF6.0 should be more than happy to recognize any disk layout between Version 20 and 170. Here goes: I have a need to migrate a numebr of large files from several servers to a linux based system from HP-UX 11.23. The data resides on VXFS version 6 filesystems on san storage. I have found LVM tools that allow me to make the MVM structures visible as disks that show up in device mapper on the linux side and I can run strings and dd on the luns and they SEEM to contain the appropriate data. The data itself is in Intersystems Cache database chunks. If I can get the actual files copied over, I can do an endian conversion on them and start using them immediately in the new environment. My problem is transport. I have several 32 GB file that need to be moved and while I haven't done time tests, I am assuming the actual migration time may be prohibitive. I have downloaded a trial of Storage Essentials and installed it on the linux server, but after I make the logical volume visible, I getthe following error when trying to perform the mount: UX:vxfs mount.vxfs: ERROR: V-3-25584: /dev/mapper/vg1220625654-lvol1 is not a supported device UX:vxfs mount.vxfs: ERROR: V-3-24996: Unable to get disk layout version Any help is appreciated. I have been searching high and low on the web, but can't seem to find any current threads about this. There are some older ones about freevxfs that used toexist for linux, but they all said it doesn't work with newer versions of vxfs filesystems.
