What volume name does VVR use for replication?
I'm about to implement volume replication with InfoScale 7.0 on windows. Currently, InfoScale is only installed on the new DR server and isn't on the production server yet. When I look at the VEA console, select my disk group and click on the volumes tab, I see all the volumes I have set up. But there is a Volume column and a Volume Name column. For example, Volume MailArchive01 is known with the internal volume name of Volume2. For various reasons, the volumes are being created in advance on our DR server and I understand that VVR will replicate volume-to-volume. But will it be replicating MailArchive01 to MailArchive01 or Volume2 to Volume2? The internal volume names seem to be arbitrarily assigned by the software, so when I install in production, there is no guarantee that they are all going to be mapped to the same internal names. For example, it could be MailArchive01:Volume2 on DR and MailArchive01:Volume3 on Prod. I see that there is an option to "change internal volume name"in the VEA console but don't know if this is necessary.Solved1.6KViews0likes1CommentCreate second RDS using volumes from same disk group in Veritas volume replicator
Hi all, I have one query. I have one disk group with 5 volumes, which are more than 2 TB and are configured for replication. Now i want to add 2 more volumes in the RDS but it will resync all the volumes after adding these 2 volumes, so is it possible to make second RDS for only those 2 new volumes. Also can we use same IP for replication.5.5KViews0likes8CommentsCreating Parallel Service Group VVR on VCS 6.1
Dear All, I have 2 servers at the Production and 1 server at the DR site. I have 4TB data i want to replicate from Prod to DR using Veritas Volume Replicator. The volume I will need to replicate is a CFS volume mounted on both servers in the Production. What is the best way to replicate this volume? HI, I have a SF for windows with VVR in my infrastructure. I have 2 Node VCS Cluster of Exchange at Primary site and 1 Node VCS Cluster of Exchange at DR site without GCO. I have HP Storage at primary site with 13 volumes and NetApp Storage at DR site with 13 Volumes as well. Due to some problem at primary site my production is now at DR site means rite now my Secondary become primary and Primary become Secondary. So i replicate the data from DR to Primary using VVR and is running successfully. Now i want to move HP from Primary site which is passive and install New NetApp and configure the volume at primary site(Passive) and i want to replicate the Data from DR(Acive) to Primary's(Passive) HP and as well as NetApp for the time being. Is it possible to replicate the data one to many means can i replicate the data from DR(Active) NetApp to Primary's(Passive) HP and NetApp??? My Bandwidth is good which is 10GB. IF Yes? then how??. Hi, I'm trying to figure out what's steps are necesary to acomplish this: I have a Customer with two datacenters located far from each other, they have theirs primary datacenter with a two AIX Power7 SI -HACMP / GPFS / ORACLE RAC / CLUSTER by the Oracle RAC; they want to replicate this date with VVR to a secondary site with same configuration; the primary site is running at this time and We want to create minimal disturbance in the current environment and help them to replicate the ORacle data to the secondary site with VVR. Can We get control of these disk at the primary site with VxVM without any consideration or the customer have to put additional space and transfer current data to the new VxVM volumens? Thay have to modify additional things inside de HACMP to work with ours VxVM? They need to control de VVR replication at the command line or SMIT? The HACMP is aware of VVR or not? They have AIX 6.1, Oracle 10G, IBM DS5000 FC Storage boxes and 10MB (100Mbps) it's the bandwith of the replication channel? Hello Iam trying to test an evaluational version of SFW. Have a problem with its VVR component between 2 Hyper-V VMs with Windows Server 2008. Setup went fine, I setup replication without any problems. Status is Active and Green, I can see "Blocks Send" increasing, log filling andemptiing, everything seems to be ok. Nevertheless secondary server's replicated diskdo notupdate it's content/files until I stop replication and restart it again. No error anywhere. What could be the problem here?
