Backup Job Rate more than halved when backing up Hyper-V VM vs Physical Server
Hi, We recently P2Ved one of our fileservers, prior to which we were able to backup with a job rate of 2GB+/min and a total backup runtime of around 15 hours. Since P2Ving the server, we now only get a job rate of around 900MB/min and the total runtime is now around 32 hours. Does anybody know why the job rate would have drop so significantly? Environment Details: We have gigabit ethernet between the VM host and iSCSI SAN (Dell Powervault MD3200i) and we backup to tape (a Dell PowerVault TL2000) The VM is a Hyper-V VM running on a Hyper-V cluster but we are not using the Hyper-V agent for backing up, just the standard RAWS agent, OS is W2K8 R2 Standard The server BE is installed on is physical with the tape library connect via SAS, BE version is 2010 R3 SP1, OS is W2K8 R2 Enterprise Cheers Adam.Solved1.2KViews7likes4CommentsNetwork setings missing from vm restore
We are currently busy performing a live DR test of all our prod servers consisting of 2003 and 2008 Windows servers. The 2003 servers restore no problem. The restore job for the 2008 servers also finish successfully. However when starting up the 2008 servers it no longer hav ethe same network settins that it had when being backed up. We ran a similar test last year following the same procedure in which all servers restored no problem. We are currently runing BackupExec 2010 R2. In the virtual environment the only thing which changed is that we upgeaded from ESX\ESXi 4.1 U1 to 4.1 U2 at which time all NICs were upgraded to vmxnet3. The NICs seem to have loaded with default settings. IP6 on and configured for DHCP as apposed to IP4 on with the original IP configured. Has anyone else experiance this or have an idea on how to resotre these 2008 servers without having to reconfigure all the network settings?Solved2.2KViews7likes4CommentsBackup/Restore Dell Optiplex 390
I created a backup of my Dell Optiplex 390 and there are 3 total files. A Dell File, A Recovery File, and the C Drive. When I boot into the SSR 2011 I am clicking Backup Recovery then clicking next and I am loading the files in this order. (I am deleting the c drive partition before laying down the images) 1.Dell File 2.C Drive 3.System Recovery (making it bootable option checked) Am I doing this wrong? Does anyone know the correct order to lay down the images, and what options I need to have checked when doing a recovery on this machine? So far I have gotten a missing boot file error then telling me to ctrl+alt+delete+, The error I have gotten the most is a black screen with a blinking cursor...... I am stumped on what options may need to be checked within the 3 different files and which order to lay them down. Any and all support is much appreciated, if you need more details please let me know what you need. Thanks, Joshua3.1KViews2likes21CommentsBackup Netapp CIFS Shares with BE2012
I have just installed BE 2012 to backup my newly installed Netapp FAS 2220A. When I try to add a new job on the Netapp filer name it does not recognize the username/password but can see Netapp as a server and Access is denied ( full access for everyone is configured on the Netapp share ). It is Keep on asking for a username/password even after providing the domain admin account. If I try to access the same name\share of the Netappfrom Run command I can access it without any problem. Any idea where is the problem. ApurSolved2.6KViews2likes13Comments[SOLVED] Unable to update capacity for Virtual Disk (BE2010R3)
I've recently added 6TB to the VirtDisk environment via DELL OpenManage on the DL2200 (Dellâ„¢ PowerVaultâ„¢ DL Disk-Based Backup Appliance powered by Symantec). The disks were for an expansion of an existing 3,5TB Environment. Since the disks were configured and visible as totalling a little over 9TB now, i wanted to have this reflected in BE 2010 R3. It seems that the ARRAY 0001 shows enough space, but this is not being cascaded down to the VIRTDISK0002 (VIRTDISK0001 is non-configurable / Disk Class: Mirror) I've tried to delete the VIRTDISK0002 from BE, but it only goes into Unconfigured state, and even when i Right Click > Configure, it doens't update to the new size, it stays on the 3.5TB. I hope someone is able to guide me to the right area to have this updated. Please let me know if you require more information. //edit: Case # 419-071-383 has been opened with Symantec //edit: Items that solved this: - Downloaded Hotfix 191248 - Under Windows Disk Management, manually extend the VIRTDISK0002. This only if OpenManage and BE aren't in full sync (due to missing hotfix too)220Views2likes0Commentsautomate missed backups BESR 8.5

Hi All, I want to migrate my existing server which is now running Domain Controller and Exchange Server 2007 on Windows Server 2003 Std. R2 SP2 x64 into new server with all same hardware except the SCSI controller difference (From PERC 6/i into SAS 5/iR). Is there anything that I should be careful or pay special attention into ? Thanks. (I'll be using Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 2010)* with the restore to different hardware methods.Solved499Views2likes2CommentsThe driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1
Good morning. For the last few weeks we keep getting the following Alert: Storage Information message on our BackupExec 2012 server. The following event was reported on 11/30/2012 10:10:13 AM: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom1. -------------------- This error signifies controller errors. These errors are generally caused by hardware that is not functioning correctly. To resolve these errors, try the following actions: - Slow the SCSI bus. - Verify that the latest SCSI drivers and firmware are loaded. If these errors continue to occur, contact the hardware manufacturer. This message happens every 15 minutes, to an hour. Even when there is no backup job running or any activity on the Backup Exec server. I have tried disabling the CR Rom drive in device manager, but this does not solve the problem. (Besides, I don't think having to disable a CD-ROM drive is a valid solution) This message used to say \Device\RaidPort1 until the 27th November where it changed to CDRom1 on the 30th November. No hardware changes have happened at all over the last 2 months. The server is fully uptodate (Windows Updates). Backup Exec is fully upto date (Live Update) The TapeDrive is a Dell PowerVault 124T (LTO4), The server is a Dell PowerEdgeR610 running the latest firmware and drivers. The OS is Windows 2008 Server R2(SP1) X64 Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Lee2.4KViews1like4Comments
