How to generate SMS message alert for failed backup's
In NetBackup Opscenter is it possible to change the information sent out in the e-mail alerts. For example i want to change the output to move the server name up in the alert so i can send this to a cell phone as a txt and not just an e-mail. Is this possible at this time, or is there a different way of doing it? I'm looking for something along the lines of subject: BACKUP FAILURE {SERVER} FAILED WITH A STATUS {STATUS NUMBER} body: SERVER: {SERVER} STATUS: {STATUS NUMBER} POLICY:{POLICY} Thanks, Snehanshu551Views0likes1CommentError message : E00084EC

I have seen various articles on doing migrations between 2003 to 2008 servers and from 32-bit to 64-bit. Is there a process to migrate and keep our current catalog/database/jobs when going from Win2003 32-bit to Win2008 64-bit? Hi i'm using symantec backup exe 12.0 with Service pack 5. We are having HP ultrium LTO 448 backup drive. For the last 4-5 months when i backup data to the tape drive the compression rate is 1:1 on 400 GB tape and the data saving on it is just around 100 GB and the tape becomes full. Normally i had around 240 GB. so now i have to use 4 tapes instead of 2 tapes. We also have a B2D backup which is done successfully without any issues. . can someone help me on this ? Hi, I have been struggling to get disk to tape backups working for several months now without any success. Every time we try to run a backup, after about 30 seconds, it fails due to an "Unknown Error" with code E00084F4. I must have read every post on this error on the Internet and have not been able to find a solution or solve this problem. We have tried: reinstalling BUE. confirmed that the drive appears in Windows Device Manager. restarting BUE services many times. different backup sources. more than different 8 tapes. We only have problems with backup to tape drives. Backup to Disk (B2D) work fine for all of our backups. If more information would be helpful, please ask. This is my first post here, so let me know if I have posted in the wrong section please. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Cheers! Hi there, I have been using an internal Dell backup tape drive for some time with Backup Exec 9.1 without any issues. The drive became faulty and it has now been replaced with an HP Storageworks DAT72 internal drive. Since replacing the drive Backup Exec sees no tapes in the drive. The drive is recognized by Backup Exec but after inserting lots of new backup tapes the drive will always show as empty. When trying to label the media the job just runs for days any nothing happens and needs to be cancelled. I have used the most up to date tape drive drivers from HP. Also I have updated the drivers for the SCSI card, which is a LSI Logic PCI-X Ultra320 SCSI Host Adapter. According to device manager this is working fine. I have applied all the Backup Exec 9.1 updates. I have also checked that the drive is on the Backup Exec 9.1 HCL. Since installing the drive the following error message shows up in event log after the server reboots: Source: symmpi Event ID: 9 The device, \Device\Scsi\symmpi1, did not respond within the timeout period. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. We are using Windows Server 2003 Small Business. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks, RitchieSolved1.3KViews0likes8CommentsBackup Exec 2010 R2 + MSL2024
Hi , We just implemented a new installation of Backup Exec 2010 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 on HP G6 server. Also installed is a tape library MSL2024 connected to server. In the OS - device manager ,both the tape drive and medium changer is shown without any errors. BE 2010 picks up the device and the media tapes - but having difficulty in doing a quick erase on the tape or renaming of the tape. The media tapes are placed in slots 1-6. Inventory can be done and thats about it. When trying to do a backup error message appears: :" The medium is not compatible with the device pool". Any help will be appreciated.Solved1.7KViews0likes5Comments
