Exchange DAG location based Backup
Customer wants us to build a Exchange DAG with Nodes on two different Locations, DBs evenly distributed between both Locations. Backup should only save the passive Databases, as far as I know this requires DAG-Mode. Problem is that the Nodes in Location A have to write their Backup to Location B and vice Versa. With Node-based Exchange Backup this can be done using two Policies, easy mode. Is there a way to make this work with DAG? Thanks in Advance for your Ideas.560Views0likes1CommentSLP Disk to tape backup size is differs

Hello, I'm trying to backup a VDI environment w/ Netbackup. I'm able of using the VIP (vmware inteligente policy) that I can backup everyting starting w/ VDESK* using linked clones I was trying to use an option (clicking Advanced at vmware pannel) select "dont backup boot disk" that was supposed to be perfect, the only problem is that Vmware do not understand the Snapshot that Netbackup needs to execute. does anyone have won this challenge? I do not want to install an agente in every virtual desktop so I 'll have some problem W/ DNS and I really don't want to :) I have read something about create the persistant disk in a different datastore, so Vmware dont recomend that. I am looking to see if a core workflow of my backup environment can be configured inReplication Director. Environment components: Multiple Netapp filers (6280s OnTap 8.x in 7mode) One Netbackup master server (Windows 2003) Two Netbackup media servers (one Windows 2003 and one OLE 6) LTO4 tape drives in a robotic library Current situation: On the primary filer Itake hourly snapshots of avolume and retain them for a rolling 24; a daily snapshot istaken and retained for rolling 7 days. Nightly; I snapvault a daily snapshot to a secondary filer and keep that for 5 weeks. On a weekly schedule I backup the volume on this secondary filer to tape. This solution is managed by many tools and there is not central console to monitor and report the end to end successes (or failures, let’s be honest). Replication Director seems to be the tool for this. Can I use it to achieve my desired result? Desired result: Netbackup schedules and initiates the hourly and daily snapshots on the primary storage volume. Netbackup schedules and initiates the snapvault to the secondary volume on another filer nightly. Netbackup schedules and executes tape backups of the secondary volume weekly to tape. Man that sounds like a dream come true. Thank you in adavance interwebs for any input you offer, Joel Delaney927Views2likes4Comments
