Event id : 34113 - Snapshot technology error (0xE000FED1): A failure occurred querying the Writer status.
Hi everyone, One of our clients uses Backup Exec 2012 SP1 and I am responsible for Backup Exec as an technical support engineer. We have an issue for backing up Exchange database. All databases are backing up succesfully but two of them always get this error. I need for advices in order to resolve this problem quickly. Event id : 34113 on backup exec server And this is the error message in backup exec : V-79-57344-65233 - Snapshot Technology: Initialization failure on: "\\[Exchange server name]\Microsoft Information Store\[Database_name]". Hi All, I need to configure NDMP backup on my backup exec to backup my Netapp, and i have tape library, and i have been reading the NDMP document and i have come across the statemement from Backup exec Admin Doc Page No:- 1787 "To configure Backup Exec to use theNDMPoption, you must add theNDMPserver to Backup Exec. If any storage devices are attached to the NDMP server, Backup Exec discovers them automatically after the services are restarted, and then adds them to the list of devices." This means i need to connect my tape autoloaderonly to my Netapp Storage , No need to zone it to my media server ? So as soon as i add my NDMP Device and restart my Backup exec Services my Tape drive attached to my Netapp will be added to device list , Later which i can choose this device to perform backup ? Am i right to say this ? May i know how this communication happens ? Also Can help me to understand backup exec actually performs an Incremental Backup using NDMP? My understanding from Netbackup is thatwe cannot have an incremental backup because NDMP backup always dumps the whole volume/qtree of netbackup on to tapes but i doesn's perform an incremental. Any Document orwhite Paper would be a great help. Thanks, NayabSolved5.8KViews1like13CommentsBackup Exec support for ESXi (free)
HI, we have 1 customer who has 2 VMWare ESXi 5.0 Hypervisors with the free license of VMWare. We were backing up these ESXi 5.0 machines with Symantec back-up Exec 2010 R3 which worked fine. We could back-up the machines and granulary restore files from these back-ups. We even had Symantec Support work on a case where the back-ups were failing due to misconfiguration. Recently we have upgraded 1 of these 2 ESXi hosts to VMWare ESXi 5.5 u1 and the back-ups started failing. We were advised to upgrade to Backup Exec 2012 and we did. After we upgraded to Backup Exec 2012 we were still getting the same errors for this particular host. The VMs from the ESXi 5.0 host were backing up without any issues. We then found out that in order for back-up Exec 2012 to be able to back-up ESXi 5.5 u1 we would need a VMWare standard license because Backup Exec 2012 uses the Vstorage API. if we were to downgrade the ESXi (free) 5.5 u1 host to ESXi (free) 5.1 u3, would we be able to back-up the VMs on this host again with Back-up Exec 2012 VMWare integration?5.8KViews0likes9Commentsinstall failed with error code 1603
Hi, When taking image backups i am getting the particular error. Even the Full Image backups doesnt work. Image Backups-Incremental Image Backups-Daily -- The job failed with the following error: Incremental\\Differential backup methods are not supported for this VM. The backup job failed, since the option 'to fall back to a full backup' was not selected. I logged a case with Symantec support and they said each VM should have an agent installed whether you need to take a GRT backup or just an image backup. Secondly they said all VMs must have hardware version7 inorder to do an incremental backup inorder to allow change block tracking feature within VMware. As a first step I am trying to push the RAWS agent to each VM. While installing agents on some VMs i am getting the following error 'install failed with error code 1603' I checked firewall settings and they are disabled. Hello; Nowadays I need to implement a deduplicated disk based backup&recovery solution for a clustered vmware system which is hosting exchange 2010 and AD servers... I have to decide how to position deduplication and backup software solutions together. In some articles I see that Symantec Backupexec and/or Netbackup is used with EMC Datadomain EMC Datadomain has deduplication feature and it's used also as a backup/recovery software. If I buy EMC Datadomain, will I need to another software Symantec Backupexec or Netbackup ? Both Backupexec and Netbackup has "deduplication" feature. If I prefer Backupexec, what's the advantage of Datadomain as an additional appliance?4.5KViews1like5CommentsFailed to validate the credentials of vmware

Ok, next question... One of our servers, that happens to be a backup domain controller, we're using to run test backupswith thetrial version of 2010. The system logon account (which is same as system account right now)being used to backup this dc is a member of the domain admin group which in turn is a member of the administrators group. We have even tried with another domain admin account and get same results. Have followed the error link and tried solutions but no luck... ...andwe keep getting following errors on the test jobs: Error category : Security Errors Error : e000fe7d - Access is denied. To back up or restore System State, administrator privileges are required. For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-65149 We have also turned on AOFO (thanks pkh). Trying to connect via creation of a disk device. When clicking "Add OpenStorage" device in Backup Exec disk devices (Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2), I am able to get to the point as follows in the attachment. I can get all fields to work, it sees it as a "Data Domain" in the selection box, but on the LSU, it doesn't populate. Login credentials are definitely right. The OST 2.5 plugin for datadomain is installed on the media server. If I manually type in LSU1, or any free text in the Logical Storage Unit field, it doesn't make any difference. The error that I get when I click OK says: "Cannot connect to the NDMP server, or to the remote computer that is configured as a Remote Media Agent, or to the remote computer that is configured for deduplication" I do not have the DD Boost license enabled, I have one MTree. I was told and confirmed that I do not need the DD Boost option to create an OST device against a straight data domain. I am on 5.0.1 OS on the DD 580.3.6KViews1like8CommentsError: 207: Database Exception
