I didn’t here anything about a new version or will it be out soon?603Views6likes3CommentsFormer Ghost 15 user - Getting trapped in the SSR 2013 Trial
A few days ago I had an issue with doing a system restore using Ghost 15. I went to that forum for help and learned that Symantec was going to discontinue Ghost and recommended users "check out" SSR 2013 with its free trial. I downloaded the free trial and eventually learned it would not install unless I first remove Ghost. That wasn't from anything that I saw when the SSR installation failed; that happened without any additional information. However, I did eventually find my way to this forum and a helpful Guru pointed out the issue and also that I could always re-install Ghost if I wasn't happy with SSR. I uninstalled Ghost, installed SSR, and started backing stuff up. Now, if one of the things you want to do is a full system restore (my primary interest)then you need a recovery disk. SSR will make a recovery disk for you and all you need to do is provide an activation key which you don't get with the trial version. No problem, as all I need to do is install Ghost. But I can't install Ghost until I uninstall SSR. And SSR WILL NOT UNINSTALL. Whenever I try to uninstall it there's an Error 2738 and something about a VBasic error. So now I have a trial verision of a program that I can't use and a paid for program I can no longer load. I guess it can all be fixed if I pay Symantec for an activation key for a program that I'm not sure I want in the hopes it will maybe allow me to upgrade to a latter version that can uninstall so I can install the program I uninstalled so I could evaluate the Free Trial. To put it another way, I may have to pay Symantec to I can remove their free software and load back the software I paid them for as well. And, even it it turns out there's a simple, and hopefully less expensive, way out of this I've still wasted a lot of time on what should be a free trial of a comercial product which appears to be more of an alpha test. (If I sound upset, it's because I really am)2.4KViews3likes12CommentsStatus gefährdet wenn nicht alle Laufwerke gesichert werden
Solved1.3KViews1like3CommentsSymantec System Recovery 2013 R2 Questions
Hi friends! I have3 questions about Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2. Many thanks for your help! 1. Monday to Sunday (except Tuesday) I make a "Schedule backup"at 12:10. Tuesdays I do a "Recovery Point Base"at 12:10. If I miss Tuesday's Base and want to make it in retrospect, do I have to go into the "Backup Wizard" and change the date and time every time? 2. If I miss a"Recovery Point Base" on Tuesdays and start the computer the day after, then a popup asks if I want to run missed backups? If I press "yes" on Wednesday, still no "Recovery Point Base" is made - just an ordinary "Shedule". Is that right? 3. I uses Symatec System Recovery 2013 R2 with Windows 8.1 64. Should I really run backup on all disk volumes (see picture)? Great and friendly thanks for the help! // JohannesSolved1.4KViews1like5CommentsClean-Up / Old Points
I read the manual, but I don't see this situation explained (attached). I installed SSR2013 in April of this year. I just installed SR1, so as to why I'm at 04. My backup defination is incremental with a new base monthly, and auto-cleanup. So the question becomes should I have any restore points from May on my destination drive? If not, what's the prefered way to delete them? They don't show up within SSR in 'Manage Destination', so do I just delete them manually with IE Explorer by clicking on that drive in Start > Computer, as I would any other file, and not even involve SSR? Hi all, I have come across a strange problem on a new installation of Symantec System Recovery 2011, Desktop Edition. The OS is Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. Other software that is installed and might be relevant is Symantec End Point client. Problem: SMTP email notifications are not being sent out, UNLESS the job in question is the weekly full backup. For daily incremental jobs, it promptly sends out the “Job started ” notification but no emailalert when the job is completed. However, for the full backups, email notification is sent out on both job start and job complete status. Incremental jobs start and finish in approximately 5 min while the full backup takes about 45 minutes. To me, it looks like that for some strange reasons, the program is unable to send out more than one email; within a very short time interval. I know that there is an option in Backup Exec 12.0, “Notify me a maximum of x times within x minutes” but of course I have never seen a similar one in SSR. Am I missing something here? Just inherited a new SBS 2011 server which a client has BESR 2010 Version 9.0 on. The backup works fine, but the SBS console does not seem to recognize that the server is backed up (shows that "last backup is not configured on this server"). I am guessing that the version is incompatible and I need to upgrade. I did a look through the forum and it seems that this is true: I am just looking for a quick clarification that this is correct. If they are compatible in some way, how do I get SBS 2011 to recognize that BESR is doing the backups?694Views1like6Comments
