Just FYI for OpsCenter & NetBackup Upgrade 7.1.0.3 After applying the 7.1.0.3 upgrade, degraded performance may be seen in NetBackup and OpsCenter on Windows due to an unintentional CPU restriction imposed on the database. Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH178219 Problem After upgrading NetBackup orOpsCenter to 7.1.0.3, the database server processdbsrv11.exe, will be licensed / limited to use onlyoneprocessor. This can cause thedbsrv11.exeprocess to use 100% of the CPU. Error To determine that the system is affected by the issue, review theserver.logfile, which can be found in: NetBackup:<install_path>\Veritas\NetBackupDB\log OpsCenter:<install_path>\Symantec\OpsCenter\db\log I. 12/29 20:31:55. 8 logical processor(s) on 2 physical processor(s) detected. I. 12/29 20:31:55.Processor limit (licensed processors): 1 I. 12/29 20:31:55.Maximum number of physical processors the server will use: 1 Another option to check if the system is affected is to execute thedblic.execommand. This command can be found in the following paths: NetBackup:<install_path>\Veritas\NetBackupDB\WIN64 OpsCenter:<install_path>\Symantec\OpsCenter\server\db\WIN64 Note:On a 32 bit system, replace "WIN64"in the paths above with "WIN32" From the command prompt: >dblic.exe dbsrv11.lic The output on an affected system would look similar to this example output from a NetBackup 7.1.0.3 server: SQL Anywhere Server Licensing Utility Version 11.0.1.2645 License read successfully. Licensed processors: 1 User: Symantec Company: Symantec Inc. Install key: PEPEMJ98AABP7150593091370 Environment This issue affects only Windows environments on NetBackup 7.1.0.3. Workaround: In a command prompt, browse to the directory containing thedblic.execommand: NetBackup:<install_path>\VERITAS\NetBackupDB\WIN64 OpsCenter:<install_path>\Symantec\OpsCenter\server\db\WIN64 Note:If on a 32 bit system, replace "WIN64"with"WIN32" Execute the following command for NetBackup: >dblic.exe -l Processor -u 128 dbsrv11.lic "Symantec" "Symantec Inc." For OpsCenter, execute this command: >dblic.exe -l Processor -u 100 dbsrv11.lic "Symantec OpsCenter" "Symantec Corporation" This would increase the number of Licensed Processor Count to 100 for OpsCenter and 128 for NetBackup. (These are the default values.) Services will have to be recycled for the change to take effect. Validate thissolutionby rerunning the dblic.exe dbsrv11.lic command and observing changes in the output. Looking for ways to improve OpsCenter reconnection to Master servers, it often takes long froma Master Server ispingable from the OpsCenterserver to theMasterhas status Connected in OpsCenter. Have increased the database cache and number of CPUs, the next thing will be increasing the OpsCenter Server Service heap. Have looked at the OpsCenter Performance tuning guide, but thinking there might also be some OS settings there could improve the reconnection.424Views1like1CommentOpsCenter Data Collection Error

Hi I need to create a sql query report in OpsCenter, so I am able to locate the clients that are performing poorly regarding backup. So what I would like your help to create, is a report containing the following: - Client name - Masterserver - Mediaserver (not important, but nice to have if posible) - Size of backup - Throughput - Starttime - Endtime - OS Conditions for the report: - I would like to run it against a predefined masterserver (so I only get clients from thatspecifik masterserver) - I only want to see clients in the report which is running backup slower than 5MB/s - The report has to be timelimited, so I will be able to look at the backup 1 week back or 1 month. I really hope one of you guys will help me with some input :-) Br Tommy609Views1like1CommentRunning OpsCenter on a media server?
I have been cautioned against running OpsCenter on a media server... but am wondering if that caution is justified? I have a nice, big, beefy Intel server on which I'm running Windows that should have *plenty* of resources to handle load. Is anyone running their OpsCenter instance on a media server? Thanks for any guidance/experiences that you might be able to share! -Mike-903Views1like4Comments
