How to check why Backup Scan takes many time
Starting from some week, the Weekly Full Backup takes really many time to perform Backup Scan operation. Usually it takes not so much time and I'd like to understand the reason , but I don't know other ways to check except the Symantec Backup Exec console where I see only the status. I am using 11d with all the latest patches on Windows Server 2000 Any suggestions or comments how to check more details ? We are currently busy performing a live DR test of all our prod servers consisting of 2003 and 2008 Windows servers. The 2003 servers restore no problem. The restore job for the 2008 servers also finish successfully. However when starting up the 2008 servers it no longer hav ethe same network settins that it had when being backed up. We ran a similar test last year following the same procedure in which all servers restored no problem. We are currently runing BackupExec 2010 R2. In the virtual environment the only thing which changed is that we upgeaded from ESX\ESXi 4.1 U1 to 4.1 U2 at which time all NICs were upgraded to vmxnet3. The NICs seem to have loaded with default settings. IP6 on and configured for DHCP as apposed to IP4 on with the original IP configured. Has anyone else experiance this or have an idea on how to resotre these 2008 servers without having to reconfigure all the network settings?Solved2.2KViews7likes4Commentsmissing some bfk files - restore with some missing still?

Hi, i have some jobs running for ever and the complete backup chain is not working anymore. Most of the time, the backup exec engine is not responging anymore, even a restart of the service doesn´t work. I always need to kill the engine. In this situation i always found huge BEX*.XML Files in the symantec backup exec subfolder. the last one had 45GB, 9GB, 5GB ... in size. With these files in place it´s not possible to restart the services. After i move these files to a tmp folder, everything looks fine. I had 2 cases open, but symantec wasn´t able to find the problem at all. Anyone with more information for this obvius bug?Solved444Views5likes2CommentsQuestion : Regards backup exec 10d

Hi Forum, BE 2012, standalone, no CASO. I get backing-up the catalog to off-site media, and I see why I should backup System_State:\ (if I want to be able to restore Windows Event Logs for later inspection) but I don't see a need to backup the installed BE binaries, nor the C:\Windows folder (apart from a few config files, e.g. the \drivers\etc\hosts file - and maybe a few others) - because surely BE cannot be used to SDR itself - and that instead recovering a standalone BE server will always involve installing a fresh O/S, installing and configuring BE, importing the catalog backup and then restoring the catalog backup. So, do poeple generaly forgoe backing-up most of C:\Windows, and also forgoe backing-up BE application binaries, on standalone BE servers? Thanks. D.372Views4likes4CommentsBackup exec error.
