We are running NBU Appliance based environment ver 2.6.1.1 and NBU ver. 7.6.1.1. We are required to enable auditing to capture who changed what policies and when. We also have OpsCenter Analytics that I am sure can possible be useful. Appreciate your help with what is required to be done to achieve the above without overloading the Master server with audit logs?Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsDumping the list of backupids in an MSDP
Sometimes it's handy knowing what is currently living inside a dedup pool, such as when you're waiting to decom appliance prior to moving it to another domain. It can be a little difficult getting this information out of NetBackup though if your SLPs move the images around to multiple destinations (and other STUs don't move it at all). So I present a one-liner to list everything on the local MSDP : myappliancename:~ # /usr/openv/pdde/pdcr/bin/catdbutil --list --status ANY | awk -F'|' '{print $3}' |awk -F_ '{print $1"_"$2}' | grep "_14" | sort -u I recommend redirecting into a file to avoid screen spam. Enjoy. =)1.3KViews1like1CommentNBU Appliance 5220, 2.6.0.3. How to get the nbdeployutil report
I am currently trying to get an up to date report on the capacity usage, I may have to initiate a purchase of additional licenses. I figured out that I can use the nbdeployutil tool to generate the report. I have created an NetBackup CLI user and generated the report, placed in what I assume is a home folder of sorts. This is in/home/nbusersreport-capacity-20141201_120045.xls However, the file permissions for the report has root as owner, and I don't have permissions to copy around this file. I have read numerous threads about security restrictions, possible implications with regards to warranty and recommended best practicies. My simple question is; what is the best practice way to generate and access this report in an appliance environment?Solved3.1KViews0likes6CommentsNetBackup Vault Reports
We upgraded our 5220 from 2.5.4 to 2.6.0.3 and we no longer get any Vault Reports. NOT Enterprise Vault, just the normal vault that comes with NBU. Anyone else run into this undocumented feature? Vault still runs and it still ejects tapes, we just no longer get any reports emailed to us. We still get other emails like from the Catalog backup.1KViews0likes4CommentsCan a Linux NetBackup Appliance Media Server write to Windows Event Log?
My current monitoring software scrapes the windows Event Viewer, problem is all netbackup jobs are recorded on a Linux Media Server. Is there a way to send stats of the backups from the Linux Server to a Windows server to be viewed in event viewer? Or perhaps set it up so that each server with netbackup installed will write to its own event log rather than send the stats to the Media Server?Solved1.3KViews1like8CommentsActual amount of Data transferred using SLP & AIR
I'm trying to find an easy way to report on the actual amount of data being transferred from one Netbackup 5220 appliance to another 5220 appliance using SLP & AIR. Both appliances are running 7.6.0.2. I wrote a script to lookfor the "CR sent" fieldin the /usr/openv/netbackup/db/jobs/trylogs/directory but as we implement Targeted AIR the script will have to be updated to accommodate the changes. I could not find a report in OpsCenter that would give me this information. Is the "CR sent" data logged somewhere other that the job logs that would make it easier to report on for any given timeframe?1KViews0likes5Comments
