Restore of Full Virtual machine failing with Status 24 - SAN Transport Mode
*** Moved to new discussion fromhttps://vox.veritas.com/t5/NetBackup/RESTORE-VMWARE-POLICY-ERROR-24/m-p/694346 *** I'm running into the same issue and some disks are offline within diskmgmt.exe on Windows Media server. Is there any risk of data corruption of changing them to online if they already have data / VM's stored written to the disk? Or is it best to create new LUNs and change to Online and then migrate to them? Thanks for your input. This is in reference to Pg 170Regarding the LUNs being online/offline -From the Guide -https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/doc/21902280-136588228-1 Page 170Solved2.1KViews0likes3Comments4x FC from Media server to brocade 300 to i6000 tape robot.
I have a Media server with 4x8GB FC connections. I am trying to get as much B/W to the robot as I can. I'm not concerned with failover of SAN paths, I purely want 4x8GB of B/W to make sure I'm not starving the robot. Can Netbackup do this? Is there a special license I need for this? In terms of the San would I make 36 zones and configure 1:1 in each zone (4 cdonnections on the media server to 9 tape drives so 36). Within netbackup would it see these and realize, it's got 4x paths to the 9 drives or does extra config inside netbackup need to take place. Would this involve linux multipathing? Here are my WWNs I'm really lost atm.1.1KViews0likes4CommentsLAN free (including SAN backup) configurations with Backup Exec
This blog is to outline some of the possible options to avoid backing up over the Corporate LAN in Backup Exec (BE). It does not discuss the specifics of configuration it just outlines the various options that might be available to show which environments might be more suitable to one option than another.Backup Data through SAN Switch
Hello, I have problem with Fiber channel backup. My condition is at the following: 1. MSL 4048 with four tapedrive 2. Two San switch that is used four redundancy (Servers are connected to either lan switches and san switches) 3. NBU 8.0 with the required licenses for SAN client and SAN shared Storage option 4. 15 ESXi hosts with lots of machines on it. 5. about 30 virtual machines and 5 physical hosts are in back up process. 6. The current connection type is lan. 7. I have one master and 4 media servers. Now I would like to change the type of connection to Fiber. I dont know if there is a config that has to be made in NBU or not. I have read most of the articles in the Veritas site but I couldn't get the solution. Hi, We recently deployed a new VM infrastructure using Vmware VSAN 6.0 It's running in 10G network and the netbackup 5230 appliance is using the same network for backup. Currently backups are running over LAN method which has some speed limitation on VMware kernel side. I would like to know if VSAN is supported for SAN Transport to maximize the backup speed. Based on the Veritas Education videos online, it is supported but I dont know how to enable it. I cant find any documentation about it as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IILCXjhBZc Please help.5.9KViews0likes6CommentsSAN Mode Transport
Hi All, I am planning to setup SAN transport mode to backup the VM servers and shared folders on my SAN Storage directly to tape thru fiber channel. Here is my current environment: The ESXi Host is connected to the SAN Switch and the LAN Switch. The SAN Storage is connected to the SAN switch. Here is my plan: The Backup Exec Server (physical) will be connected to the SAN switch and LAN switch. The FC tape Library will be connected to the SAN switch. 1. Can someone confirm if my setup is correct? 2. If I need to backup other physical Windows server, how the data pass thru? Physcial server > LAN Switch> Backup Exec Server>SAN Switch> tape library ? Please see the attached diagram. Thanks!Solved1.7KViews0likes3Comments
