Hi I have Storage Foundation 6 Basic running on windows 1008 R2 which has been working flawlessly for years. I received Storage Foundation 7 through windows update (it was 1 MB so I guess its only the driver). I made the mistake of installing it and now it no longer works. I can see the following error messages in the windows system event log The following service is taking more than 16 minutes to start and may have stopped responding: Veritas Enterprise Administrator Service and this one too: vxboot: cannot set vxconfigd's pid: VxBoot.sys error: 3221225485 For more information, click the following link: http://entsupport.symantec.com/umi/V-204-57344-1 So what it the best thing to do, try and get version 7 working or just uninstall veritas and reinstall version 6 and hope that it will see my volumes? Hi, I'm in the middle of a proposal and the customer ask us to describe the way (step by step) to migrate their MSCS (2003) to SFWHA (VCS)? do you know if Symantec has a procedure? Any recommendation? The customer requires minimal impact and smooth process? Thanks for your help. Hi all I'm planning a migration from the following platform : 1 MSCS cluster (shared disks / Quorum) 2 nodes ( HP Servers) Windows Advanced Server 2000 with SP4 Storage Foundation for Windows HA 4.3 MP1 To the same hardware platform, but with 1 MSCS cluster (shared disks / Quorum) 2 nodes (same servers) Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition SP2 Storage Foudation for Windows HA 5.1 SP1 I found documents about upgrading products on their own ( SFW HA 4.X to 5.X) or/and MSCS 2000 to MSCS 2003 / WIndows 2000 to Windows 2003 But did not find any infos of documents on how to upgrade both items What would be the right order of operations ? I suppose I have to first upgrade windows and MSCS to 2003 'cos SFW 5.1 do not support Windows 2000, but what are the caveats of such an upgrade Has anybosy any clue or already have done suche a procedure Thanks for your helpSolved1.3KViews0likes5CommentsAfter update VSFHA from 5.1SP1a to 5.1SP2 dont start VCSComm

Hi everyone, I am very new to Veritas Storage Foundation and I need your assistance greatly. We have 2 nodes windows 2003 Ent. cluster with Veritas Storage Foundation ver 4.3.1000.350 (from "about server" menu) installed. There is "Paths" tab when viewing the Disks group, so I assume we also have DMP installed? Here are my questions: 1) How to tell if the version is "Veritas Storage Foundation" or "Veritas Storage Foundation HA"? 2) How to tell if we have MP1 installed? From our current version, we are asked to upgrade to 4.3 MP2 to fix a bug. The MP2 file has 2 versions, the one with "HA" and the one with none. So back to question #1 above, can anyone tell me what our version is. Or, how to check the version. My next questions: 3) If our version doesn't have MP1, can we upgrade to MP2 directly? or do we need to upgrade to MP1 first, then MP2? 4) Any KB or guide for such upgrade? 5) Any known tips/warning about such upgrade for version 4.3? I apologize for the long post, and any help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance. Regards, DonSolved966Views0likes4CommentsMigrating to SFWHA 6.0 W2K8
Hi all, To migrate from a W2K3 SFWHA 5.1 SP2 cluster environment I am looking for a solution that gives to less impact for users and application. We run only SQL 2005 and 2008 instances on this cluster. So I was thinking about the solution toadd a W2K8 R2 SFWHA 6.0 node into this existing cluster? Is this possible? Are there any experiences with 6.0 yet? (possitive and negative?) IvoSolved808Views0likes2CommentsStorage Foundation HA for Windows - Mixed SQL 2000/2005/2008 cluster
We have a 2 node SQL 2000 cluster on SF HA for Windows 5.1 sp1. There are 10 instances on this active/active cluster. We are looking to upgrade 1 instance at a time from SQL 2000 to either SQL 2005 or 2008. The Symantec doco says that it supports SQL 2000/2005 on the same nodes, but I can not find any doco on the procedure for the upgrade. All the doco regarding a SQL upgrade assume that you are doing the entire node, not just 1 instance. I opened a support request with Symantec. They also confirmed they would support it, but have no doco showing how to do it, except to loosely follow the upgrade procedure documented in the"Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Installation and Upgrade Guide" on page 168. Has anyone on these forums done a similar SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 upgrade to just one instance in a cluster?
