Cluster dynamic disk group in VirtualBox
Has anyone being able to getcluster dynamic disk groups working in VirtualBox. I have SFWHA 5.1 installed on W2003 and I can create a normaldynamic disk group, but I cannot create acluster dynamic disk group on a fixed size shared disk - I get error message: V-76-58645-585: Failed to reserve a majority of disks in cluster dynamic disk group I think the issue is that I don't thinkVirtualBox supports SCSI II as when I use "scsicmd -d1 -sscsi_reserved_status" it reports: Failed SCSI-3 PR READ on Harddisk1, scsiStatus: 0x0, system error: 0x0 Harddisk1 is writable but it is not supporting SCSI-3 read. SCSICMD can't determine whether Harddisk1 is being SCSI-2 reserved or not. Wally says athttps://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/v-76-58645-585-failed-reserve-majority-disks-cluster-dynamic-disk-group-1 The second etrack is 2252699. This one is a private patch that is only available through opening a support case. This etrack adds support for internal disks to the Windows 2008 OS and it also includes the Windows 2003 drivers needed as well (I'm not sure if the Windows 2003 drivers are actually updated in this release or not.) You will need to open a support case to get the private patch in etrack 2252699 to disable SCSI 2 reservations when using internal disks in an VCS cluster. Has anyone got this patch and does it work on Windows 2003 - I only need it for lab set-up for virtual box on my laptop, so I'm not looking for any official support for this. Hi all, I had install Storage Foundation on Microsoft Cluster with 2 nodes. I will able to see and mount the storage LUNfrom HA serverA but not able to see the same storage LUN from HA serverB. Hi i would like to know when SQL 2012 will be supported with HA Console wizard. we need to implement VCS SQL 2012 in a VMware environment so we can use VCS with VMotion, DRS, etc... i know that i can configure VCS Cluster manually without a wizard but this require highly knowledge of the VCS and a hight level overview of the process, so currently this is not an option thanks!Solved1.4KViews0likes5CommentsDeporting/Importing Disk Group in VMware.
Hello. I am running SFHA 5.1 in a VMware environment. I created a 2 node cluster and the nodes failover perfectly. However when i create a disk group on a shared bus and deport it from the current node. It does not show up for importing in the other node. I have created the IP, NIC and VmDG resources and they are all online on the node the disk group was created on. However when i try to fail them over. the VmDG faults as it is not able to import itself on the other node. I tried both Windows server 2003 and 2008 and the problem persisted. Please note that i ran the '' Vxclus usesystembus ON '' command to enable the shared bus. I would really appreciate your help in this regard. Thanks Umair.Solved1.5KViews0likes7CommentsUsing SFHA on Windows, under VMware
We are considering options for clustering Windows (2k3R2, 2k8R2, X64) nodes that are actually VMware VMs (ESX 4.1). Is there documentation that describes setting this up, and what limitations might exist? For example, does usingcluster effectivelykill the ability to VMotion? Do you have to use RDMs for storage? Sorry for being vague, I don't know enough (yet) to ask targeted questions. Thanks in advance!Solved1.7KViews1like4CommentsVCS on VMWare?
All, I'm in the process of doing some testing in our lab. Due to hardware limitations (labs are always the last to get updated hardware...) I have to run my Windows 2008 64bit systems on VM's using VMWare 3.5. I've got SFHA 5.1 SP1 successfully installed. I provisioned 5 10GB LUNs from the NetApp to the virtual hosts, and created Raw Data Mapped drives through to the virtual system. The 2008 VM sees the disks fine, and even recognizes that they're on a NetApp. The problem is, that when I try to create a clustered disk group with those LUNs, I get the dreaded error V-76-58645-525: "The disk can not be imported as a member of a cluster dynamic disk group because it is not on a shared bus." Am I missing something simple? Can this be done? Thanks in advance, MarkSolvedSFW 5.1 & VMWare
Hello all, we are using SFW 5.1 SP1 with VM (running Win2K3 SP2 R2) supported by ESX3.5U5. These VM are clustered and share disks are RDM mirrored (using SFW) disk. their system disks are mirrored also (still using SFW) but stored as vmdk (datastore located on our SAN storage). We encounter random VM freeze: the VM can be pinged but it is impossible to connect on it (neither RDP nor VCMS console). Does any one encoutered such a case ? Regards, D.
