Accelerator install requires UAC to be turned off
I'm struggling to understand why the Discovery Accelerator 10.0.3 Client requires UAC to be turned off in order to be installed. The DA & CA client install doesn't offer a "Run as administrator" option. The user account that is logged in on this Windows 7 computer during the install is in the local administrator group. When I run the setup with UAC at the default setting, the following error appears: "The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file: C:\Program Data\regid.1992-12.com.symantec\regid.1992-12.com.symantec_Enterprise_Vault.swidtag." Why, oh why, does the installer not have permissions to modify a file IT is installing? Furthermore, why in the name of every system administrator does an install, while logged in as a local administrator, require UAC to be disabled? Rather than work with the heightened security that Windows 7 offers as a means of protecting systems from viruses and malware, why must we do the very thing we shouldn't have to do just to install a product - as an administrator?! I verified this by disabling UAC, restarting the computer and trying the DA client installation again - with success. Removing DA, putting UAC back to the default setting, restarting the computer and trying to install the DA client again results in the above error. Seriously, Symantec. Where is the "Run as administrator" option so we don't have to go through this just to install your product? Now we have to make sure the user is an administrator, disable UAC, restart, install DA, reset UAC to default, and restart again just to install a product once... and repeat the process when the next verison of CA or DA comes out.Solved969Views2likes3CommentsDQL: Sum the Sum of Total Access, Exporting Dashboards
Is there a way to use DQL to demonstrate the sum of the sum of total access for sites? For example, you can generate reports to showthe number of people with access levels ofcreate, read, write, and delete per site, but can you also demonstrate that total per person? We are looking to determine an individual's level of access to each site monitored by DI, summed per level of access. In addition to this, can you export the graphs and dashboards generated to Excel? You can save the raw data in table format, but the graphs would also be helpful. Thanks! Evan1.9KViews1like8CommentsDI Report Exporting
Hello, To give some context to my issue, when HTML and CSV files are sent over SMTP in my company's network, they are stripped due to a company zip file policy. My question is: Is there a way to prevent these files from being stripped without changing the company policy, or is there any other workaround? Also, in regard to these reports, is there a way to add a personal message within an email along with the report? My temporary workaround has been to add personal notes in the 'Description' field, but I would like to be able to simply add a small message in the email along with the generated report. Any help with either question would be great. Thanks!Solved868Views1like2CommentsCA - Random Caputre Question
I was wondering if there was a way to change the way CA caputres emails. Here is our problem. Ex. I send an email to a distrubition list which has 20+ employees in our department and a couple outside clients are on the email as well. This email is now marked as external outbound. My manager reviews all the 20 internal employees on the email and now has the same 20 emails to review. I'm having a hard time to understand why this email will go to their ques since they - did not send the email - email did not come from outside in The email should only be review by my reviewer since I was the author.Right ? Our current config - The 20 employees are mapped as an exception to the same reviewer. (The department has more then 20+ emoployees with differnt reviewers) - ver. We are trying to get our remote email reviewers to review emails by using the compliance accelerator client via Citrix. All in all it seems to work fine with the exception of opening .pdf files. When opening a .pdf file we get the following error There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again.(103:103) When the CA client is local with Adobe local we do not see this issue. We are running Adobe reader 10.1.7.and where others have seen this error but not related to CA the issue has either beendue to opening documents in a browser or protected mode. I have tried what has been suggested without any luck. Does anyone have any thoughts out there? TeddySolved2KViews1like9Comments
