Hi. I just configure my new backup device in order to backup another kind of information. I would like to reuse some test tapes (used in HCART3 density) in my new jobs using HCART2 density but net backup do not allow it to me. I tryied to expire and delete the media but nothing happens. New tapes are working perfect. Is there any way to "format" the media? Thanks in advice Regards1.9KViews0likes6CommentsBacking up Synology NAS is very slow !
Hello, I'm Backing up datas (to an HP LTO-7 Unit, Backup Exec 2016 VRay edition) for a customer. - Windows Server 2012, Hyper-V (3Vm's) : It works fine and fast ! - Synology NASRS3617RPxs (2 NAS with HighAvailability Cluster) : It works, but it is very very slow ! Data discovering at startup takes a long long time ... And Backing up (2 To,, more ore less) takes a long long time too ! I decided to do a FULL Backup each friday (Week-end to backup, no problem), and to do a differential backup monday to thursday. But it seems that Backup Exec always do a Full Backup ... Why do i want to back up these NAs to an LTO tape ?because of cryptolockers and ransomwares ... It saved my life a few times !!! Any help or advices ? NBU 7.6.0.3 for DFSR backups of a drive, there are file/s being skipped due to access denied (file still open at user side). my question is, what happens to the other files that are not open or being used? will they have a backup inspite of the open file error caused by other opened files? or the whole DFSR backup is useless just coz a few files have open file error?3.5KViews0likes10CommentsBackup Exec Netware Remote agent

I've been asked to complete a restore of multiple user drives, across multiple servers, over multiple years....I know...sounds like fun, right? Here are my challenges... 1. Generate a list of files to be restored. I have the user list, but they could be on any of 20 different client servers. I was thinking of using bplist to find them, but can't for the life of me get past the dreaded 227 error when I run it from the Master server. Oh, and some of those clients don't exist anymore....just the backups. - I've tried variations for bplist such as: bplist -Smaster -Cclient -t 13 -R c:\pathname on client 2. Use powershell, to take the list from above and generate the restores with the files being directed to another location using bprestore is my guess. I'm running NBU 7.6.0.1 on W2K8 and my install path is not the default. Any help would be really appreciated as this is probably going to take weeks as it is.Solved4.9KViews0likes21CommentsRestoring emails from backup Exec 2010 fails
I have been tasked to recover some emails from an old tape based backup created with Backup Exec 2010. I have spun up a VM of SBS 2003 as this was what the backups were created on. I've set it up with the same domain details as the original server (that no longer exists). I've loaded up backup exec 2010 R3, inventoried and catalogued the tapes. Tested restore of files from drives stored in the backupsand all is fine. Restore completes without issue. Ican see the microsoft exchange mailboxes in question on the backup. One of the mailboxes in the backup has a warning x symbol on it and its status is 'corrupt or contains corrupt items'. All the other mailboxes appear with the status 'normal'. It is one of these 'normal' mailboxes that i want to recover some emails from. I start a restore job, select the emails, Set the settings in backup exec under 'exchange' to automatically recreate user accounts and mailboxes', dismount the database before restore and commit and mount database after restore. I then start the restore. The job then fails with the following error: 'A checksum of the data has failed.' I am wondering if the whole exchange database is corrupt in the backup. My question is, how can i get the exchange database 'out' of the backup, so i can try and run some utilities on it to recover the emails? Many thanks Matthew1.6KViews0likes4Comments
