Backup exec and old tape drive
Ok not really sure how to begin this but here it goes and i hope i am clear. Many years ago i purchased a tape drive, the tape drive was manufactured or at least marketed by Connor, conner was later integrated into Seagate, seagate then took the software side and sold it to Veritas and then Veritas took and sold it to Symantec. So that brings us to today, the old software which i had upuntil i recently moved was based on 95/98, the tape drive itself plugs into the floppy drive cable. Anyway from moving the PC which i had the tape drive on took a crap. So a friend of mine lent me a demo copy of backup exec 13, granted an older version but was hoping that it would recognize my tape drive. It did not. So if i may ask, what Symantec backup exec program version will recognize my tape drive and will it run under xp or 7? I want to take all my tapes and back them up to dvd. that is why i am looking for something that will work my tape drive. Thanks for any and all assistance. Have a great day.1.9KViews1like5CommentsHow to verify if BE created an .img file
I have a .img file which I think was created with Backup Exec. However, it's dated 2005 and I can't be sure - and I certainly don't have the product any more. If it contains what I think it does, there is some content I would very much like to recover. Is there any way to determine for sure whether it is a BE file and if so easily (and preferably cheaply!) acquire some software to list the files it contains and extract them? I have had a look in the file with a hex editor and it certainly looks like there is some kind of directory a few kb in.1KViews1like5CommentsBackup Exec 2012 with “software compression”.

Hi, We are currently positioning BE2012 to a certain customer, backing up 200 POS (point of system) Machines (file level only) running on Windows XP POS Ready 2009 and windows POS Ready 7 . Upon checking BE 2012 SCL, Windows Pro and Home Edition are the only supported Operating systems. However during POC Windows POS Ready 2009 is working fine for NOW as I believe these are only POS enhancements on the top of windows XP (please correct me if I am wrong), I am only doing 10 out of 200 so no problems so far. Will there be any issues if we continue and push the product even if it is not officially supported under BE2012 SCL? Im afraid time will come that i will need to file a support, symantec might nott be able to help me. regards,Solved504Views1like1CommentBackup Exec 12 - Server paused
Hello, I have a Backup Exec 12 Server and since this morning a new LTO Tape Drive. I have deleted the old one and installed the new one. Everything works fine. Then I have insert a Tape into the new Drive and started a inventory Job on the Drive. Nothing happend so I have checked the Status of the Drive - everything was fine. After some research I have found out that pause and activate the Device should fix the issue. But it's still there. With the BEUtility i have checked the Status of the Mediaserver. It shows me "Server paused" in the Status slider. I have installed all available Updates (Version 12x0 Rev. 1364). Started the Server and the Services several Times, fixed the Database and did a BE-Diag (see Attachment). Nothing helped. What should I do? GreetingsSolved2.5KViews1like3Comments
