Netbackup 7 - N5000 Appliance and PureDisk Client
A client of mine has bought the following; 72TB Symc Netbackup Platform Base 7.0 Xplat 1 Front End Tbyte Std Lic Rewards Band E 72TB Symc Netbackup Platform Deduplication option add-on 7.0 xplat 1 front end tbyte std lic 2 xSymantec N5000 Appliances 16TB Addressable (backup through-put of upto 4.3TB/Hr) Question:The primary dataapprox 46TBis sitting on Clariion CX 480 storage (iSCSI) and 16 TB is at 6 remote locations (TOTAL 60TB). The half of 46TB is VMware (VMs). The link between the 6 remote sites is 100MB each. Client is also implementing EV at Primary (hitting the remote File / Exchange servers) which would hopefully reduce the remote backup target sizes upto 50%. The archived data (Vaults) will be at Centerra which we do not need to backup. Objective: Client wants to utlise these 2 appliances to backup the data which hasnt been archived. What is the best design in this scenario? - Do I need PureDisk client license for client side deduplication? and if it is covered under the above license? - Backup the storage through NDMP - Backup the VMs through AVVI - How to achieve tape less environment?1.5KViews0likes6CommentsHow to recover local master using DR catalog image from remote master?
Hi All, I have 2 NBU domains, 1 is a traditional master (7.1.0.3 on win 2008 R2) and the other is an appliance master (2.0.2). Both have their catalog backups replicated via AIR to each other. My question is, if 1 of the master go down, how do I recover it using the catalog backup image from the remote master? Thanks, CKSolved512Views0likes1Comment7.5 VMWare full system restore from previous backup
Hi, I am in the process of playing with.. I mean testing.. our new 5220 appliances and I'm using VMware snapshot method for the first time. I have a policy configured to backup a few Windows (2008 and 2003) VMs. The policy type is VMware. File recovery from VM Backup, Block level inc backup, Exclude deleted blocks and Exclude swap and paging are all enabled. There is a weekly full and a daily cumulative incremental. These backup successfully. However when I do a full restore I am only able to select the last successful backup be it full or inc. Is there no way to restore to a previous backup? For example: If a full is done on Sunday... and incremental on Monday. On Tuesday someone screws the registry or something but it is not noticed. A backup is taken on the Tuesday night. Given the above options I would only be able to restore the Tuesday nights backup which is no good. I would have no option to restore the back up taken on the Monday before the registry changes ware made. Can anyone advise if I might have something set incorrectly?Solved511Views0likes1Comment
