Some of the main differences between Backup Exec and Backup Exec System Recovery: 1) Backup Exec is a backup and restore software, whereas Backup exec System Recovery is a recovery software. 2) BESR canwrite data only to disks not to tapes, whereas BE can write to both. 3) BE works at file level whereas BESRworks at block level.SSR and Hyper-V_VM Protection
Hello all I am making a blog post after a long time but now onwards I will be regular! We keep getting queries on best practices/ways to protect Hyper-V VMs with SSR, so here is some useful information. Two different Methods/strategies could be employed to protect virtual machines on Windows Server with Hyper-V role enabled environment:Restore Anywhere Mini Setup stalls at Licencing Modes Screen.
I have attempted a restore anywhere of a Windows 2003 server, the recovery appears to go fine but when the server reboots and performs its mini-setup it gets as far as the Licencing modes screen and stops. It doesn't appear to of crashed, just stopped during the scripted install. I can move the mouse but both the back and next buttons are greyed out. If Ictrl click the recover anywhere option and stop it performing the mini setup the server restores fine and boots fine but I'm not sure if this would work with different hardware or at our DR site. Has anyone had this issue before or know how to fix it? Hi, I'm having a bad experience in using BESRO 8.5.2 cold backup what i'm about to do is that to backup my Exchange Server 2007 + Domain Controller in single box using the Recovery CD console, I select the whole set of my Windows Server partitions including the Dell Utility partition and then back it up into my USB HDD but then when I was testing to restore the backup I'm confused as I couldn't see any .SV2i file which is always created during the hotbackup and then here comes the dreaded error message: Error: E0BB014B: Volume Not Found can someone please shed some light in this matter ? Thanks, AWTSolved720Views3likes8CommentsBE System Recovery 2010: No migration from Manager!?
So, like you perhaps already know, the new version of Backup Exec System Recovery got released; Backup Exec System Recovery 2010. Some things changed, that are really important. For example the Manager no longer exists. This solution got replaced by Backup Exec System Recovery Management Solution.BESR USB 3TB Disk
I have BESR 8.5 working with 2TB USB drive for backup. I am trying to add a 3TB USB drive as a backup location and it will allow me to select it but will not continue through the backup job creation. It just stops and will not continue when I click next. I saw some discussion on 3TB USB 3.0 drives being supported as hot backup (windows needs to be running) locations. Should this work? Is there an issue with 8.5 that does not exist in the current version?731Views2likes3Commentsbackup exec 8.5
Purchased a official Symantec Backup and recovery 8.5 for Small Business Sever, and it works great! Tested backup and restore. Quick and Easy. The only problem I have is that the granular online recovery for Exchange give me license issue: Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery Granular Restore: This version of the software (Small Business Server edition) is not able to read images generated with BSER Server edition. Either create backup images with BSER SBS edition or upgrade this product to the Server version. Anyone has a solution for this? My plan is to use Symantec 8.5, and for backup will backup with SBS 2008 with built-in backup system as well. I do haveother questions? 1) Will Symantec 8.5 SBS edition work with SBS 2011? 2) What advantages I have with SBS 2011 over freshly installed SBS 2008? Can I upgrade from SBS 2008 to SBS 2011?
