Backup of SAP HANA with multitenant database container with netbackup.
Hi, I have one query? We have netbackup 7.7.2 and SAP HANA with multitenant database container. For one instance we have to do following configurations on SAP HANA studio: Create hdbbackint soft link from /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/opt/hdbbackint to /usr/openv/NetBackup/bin/hdbbackint_script for every database instance. The parameter file (initSAP.utl) must be specified for data in the SAP HANA database instance configuration. To specify the parameter file, go to Instance->Configuration-> global.ini > data_backup_parameter_file. The parameter file (initSAP.utl) must be specified for logs in the SAP HANA database instance configuration. To specify backup using the parameter file, go to Instance->Configuration->global.ini-> log_backup_parameter_file. To specify backup using the backint file, go to Instance->Configuration->global.ini-> log_backup_using_backint->SYSTEM = true. My problem is that how to configure backup for multitenant database container (For multiple Instance ) We have cluster "Dev" with multitenant database container having 3 instance "Dev" "Quality" and "SystemDB" The problem is that DBA is telling that create hdbbackint soft link from /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/global/hdb/opt/hdbbackint to /usr/openv/NetBackup/bin/hdbbackint_script . DBA inform us that,It is not possible due to Database instances in SAP HANA database will be in hidden mode. So we cannot create the links. Requesting you to help me in this. I recently had a customer ask about NetBackup versus Oracle ZDLRA—a comparison I typically avoid framing as a competition. The reality is, NetBackup and ZDLRA can serve complementary roles, and leveraging both can deliver strong Oracle data protection while supporting broader organizational requirements. NetBackup provides robust, enterprise-grade Oracle coverage. It’s designed to meet the protection needs of most customers while supporting a secure, scalable 3-2-1 data protection strategy. Meanwhile, Oracle ZDLRA offers specialized functionality for Oracle database recovery that can integrate well into this strategy—though many customers aren't aware of how effectively the two can work together. If your organization has invested in ZDLRA—a purpose-built solution for Oracle backups, albeit with limited visibility outside of the DBA team—you don’t need to treat it as a standalone silo. NetBackup can be integrated to reduce overall deployment cost, improve operational visibility, and enhance long-term retention and disaster recovery capabilities across the enterprise. Optimizing ZDLRA with NetBackup Instead of sizing ZDLRA to retain months or years of data—or replicating it across sites to meet compliance and DR requirements—you can configure ZDLRA for short-term retention (e.g., a few weeks). From there, NetBackup can take over for long-term storage, ensuring cost-efficiency and compliance with data protection policies. By installing the NetBackup client directly on ZDLRA nodes, NetBackup can orchestrate backups from ZDLRA to its own storage tiers, enabling deduplicated, efficient data movement and long-term retention. This hybrid approach is generally more cost-effective and operationally sustainable than over-sizing ZDLRA. Integration Steps: NetBackup + ZDLRA To integrate NetBackup with ZDLRA for seamless Oracle protection: Install the NetBackup client on the ZDLRA nodes. Allow NetBackup to auto-discover the Oracle RAC databases hosted on the ZDLRA nodes. Configure credentials for the discovered RAC databases in NetBackup. Create an Oracle policy in NetBackup using the “Clients for use with scripts” option. Update the existing backup scripts on ZDLRA to include the necessary NetBackup configuration for those databases. Once configured, NetBackup will treat those Oracle databases like any other client—protecting them with centralized policy management, broad visibility, and efficient long-term retention. More importantly, this setup ensures stakeholders across IT, compliance, and business continuity can access recovery insights—not just DBAs. It’s Not Either/Or—It’s Better Together There’s no need to choose between NetBackup and ZDLRA. When used together, they deliver a comprehensive, scalable Oracle protection strategy that balances performance, cost, and visibility. Organizations gain the flexibility to align with both DBA-centric recovery workflows and broader enterprise data protection policies.Virtual Vault not removed from Outlook...
Hi, Here is my problem: I would like to disable archiving for some ~500 users and delete theirs archives from EV 9.0.2. The problem is that Virtual Vault is still always present in Outlook folder tree and users are able to browse the vault cache. How to remove it for 500 users? Here is what i did (step-by-step): 1. Disable archiving for users from EV console. 2. Synchronize Mailboxes 3. Remove users from the Provisioning group 4. Run Provisioning task 5. Delete archives from EV 6. Uninstall Enterprise Vault add-in from user’s PC The Virtual Vault is always there… Please help!Solved3.5KViews0likes11Commentsshutdown and restart Cluster with VEA

we've recently been rolling out enterprise vault for excahnge version 9 throghout our environment. it iahs integrated with our systems really well and we've only had minor issues I've now reached the tedious and painful stage of migrating existing pst files into the new archives. this worked effectively in trial/test, now i'm picking up the server stored PST files held in the head office of our organisation and our users are reporting strange behaviour with their caendars: we've chosen to import shortcuts from PST files to a folder called "legacy archives" and then to place each archive seperately (not merge) this creates a tree structure containing the archvied calendars from the original PST file, all seems fair so far except that, if a user browses their calendar they can see all of these calendars and there is no way of diferentiating between these. (see attached). i'v tried to hunt around and find a way of importing the archived calendar entries (PST files are being deleted afterwards so caldendar entries must not be ignored). we cannot have our users opening multiple calendars and making entries into the wrong one, nor do we want them to be confused by the sight of many calendars. what do people usually do to prevent this from heppening? The configuration of the Veritas Data Insight (DI) with (DLP) Data Loss Prevention by Symantec bi-directional interconnect requires configuration on both sides of the connection and each application has specific requirements. DI must have the access and permissions with a role to interact with the Reporting API and Web API of DLP to pull sensitive file information DLP must save the certificate for SSL comms to DI to retrieve the attributes via a configured Lookup request. Both applications require users configured in the other application for access.1.8KViews2likes0Comments
