How can we build a new server to use for just SMTP archiving?
We currently have an EV server deployed that is used for vaulting our on premise Exchange server as well as journaling. We are no migrating to Office 365 and want to build a new EV server that will just handled SMTP journaling. We built a new Windows server and installed just SMTP journaling on it, however every time we try and create a new vault store group/vault store/partition, EV wants to store it on the "legacy" server where we are doing exchange archiving (even if we use a completely different database). Is the only way to setup SMTP journaling (only) on a new server to install EV as if it is a brand new site? The idea is to try to limit the number of changes needed on the legacy EV server while allowing us to easily shut it down once we have everyone moved to Exchange Online and we shut down our on premise mail servers.Solved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsDelete Spam from Journal Archive
Here's the situation. We havea DVR appliance that for the last year has been sending multiple emails a day to a mailbox, each with a 2mb attachment. Of course our SMTP Journal archive picked up all of that. Is there a way to cleanly delete 30k messages from an archive without individually selecting and deleting through the web search interface? Edit: We're on 12.2 so using Discovery Accelerator Privileged Delete isn't an option.1.2KViews0likes1CommentJournaling in Mixed Exchange 2010 / 2016 Environment
Running EV 12.0.3 in mixed Exchange 2010 / 2016 environment. Journaling is configured in Exchange 2010. EV Journaling and Archiving tasks running against Exchange 2010. New System Mailbox and EV Archiving task created and running against Exchange 2016. No mailboxes migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2016. What do I need to do with journaling before starting the migration of Exchange 2010 mailboxes to Exchange 2016?1.7KViews0likes4CommentsEnterprise Vault Journal Mailbox
Has anyone troubljeshot the following issue? Messages with the IPM.Note class within the jpournal mailbox are being archived but they seem to be getting stuck in the Not.enterpriseVault.PendingArcvhive.Part class. The numbers are rising steadily without intermittent decrease. Any thoughts? Thanks Paul1.4KViews0likes3Commentshelp needed on exporting search result to pst (exchange server no longer exists)
Hello, I have a question regarding Enterprise Vault. Here’s a little background: We have Enterprise Vault 9.0.4.1097 (64bits) that was used to archive Exchange 2007. We did a project to migrate all our mailboxes to Office365. A new Exchange 2013 was built to setup an Hybrid solution with Office365. We asked our users to bring back their important emails from the Vault to their mailbox Mailboxes were migrated from Ex2007 to 2013 and then to Office365. After all mailboxes were migrated, Ex2007 was decommissioned but Ent Vault was kept in case we needed to search for missing emails. The search function works fine (we essentially use for journal mailbox). EV was supposed to be decommissioned in January 2017 but we were asked to wait… Exchange 2013 is still operational. We are at a point that journaling mailbox search is not sufficient : we would need to export the search result to PST. This, doesn’t seem to be doable without the original Ex2007 journal mailbox. What would be the better option for us? Reinstall a new Ex2007 and recreate a mailbox for the destination of the PST? Migrate Vault to a version compatible to Exchange 2013? Is there any EV Powershell commands that would allow us to export the search results to PST without the use of Exchange? Any suggestions? Thank you!1.1KViews0likes1CommentIs Exchange Journaling insecure?
Sounds strange doesn't it? Exchange Journaling, the process used by thousands of Exchange customers all over the world to ensure that have a defensible and reliable eDiscovery position, has been called into question by... Microsoft! So why would Microsoft state that Journaling is insecure?282Views1like1Comment
