Login into Virtual Server Machine fail (VMware)
Hello, I'm having issue backing up VMware VMs. Backup stopped working after i upgraded vCenter from 6.7 to 7.0.1. I found that my NetBackup Appliance(3.1, NetBackup console 8.1) supports only vCenter 6.7 or lower. Upgrading the appliance to 3.2 seems fix the issue, but found it's a complicate and risky procedure which requires a consultant. So, until we upgrade the appliance, I need to make sure the VM backup running at least. So, I tried to configure ESXi server(vSphere 6.5) instead of vCenter, I still cannot make the login but get the below error in the also attached image. Why does this happen? ESXi is 6.5 and has not been upgraded to 7, NetBackup 8.1 should work with no issue??? The ESXi name, I typed the ip address of the host, same as vCenter. VMware credential validation failed. Hello, First of all, I'm not familiar with NetBackup. I just noticed that all VMware VM backups fail after I upgraded vCenter from 6.7 to 7.0. NetBackup 8.1 console> Media and Device Management> Credentials> Virtual Machine Server, the login to new vCenter fails, which I think why all VM backup fails. NetBackup Core Support confirmed that this is incompatiblity issue and I have to upgrade my Appliance and the other media server and Netbackup to upper version. Can anyone layout the steps and links how I can perform this upgrade? I searched knowledge bases but Appliance white papers talk about only appliance, Netbackup talks about only netbackup upgreade. Much Appreciated in advance.839Views0likes1Commentrestoring data for client deleted from netbackup
i'm new to our netbackup group, and more experienced with backup exec, and smaller amounts of data than my company currently backs up. we're trying to clean up some old policies because the jobs are failing. for instance, we have several vmware policies with different virtual machines. some of those virtual machines no longer exist, but their data needs to be retained for several more years. the person in my group that's worked the longest with netbackup says we can't remove those clients from the policy because then we won't be able to restore the vm if we need it later. is that true? if so, how do we prevent the policy from failing when it doesn't find the virtual machine?1.1KViews0likes3CommentsBackup Exec VSS Writer
Good day, We are running Backup Exec on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. The backups keep failing when running a job for the Hyper-V Host server (Windows Server 2016 Standard) with 3x VM's and generates the errors below. The backup job will run once after the Host server has been restarted but after that it keeps failing. When running the VSSADMIN LIST WRITER command, no errors are generated on the Hyper-V host or the clients. Please may this get your full attention as these are critical servers that need to be backed up.
