May be happening because of a corrupted MAPI.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling MAPI & CDO in your exchange server (Reboot may also required).

Its not possible for Backup Exec to lock any log files as Backup Exec uses VSS writer to backup the database and log files. Made sure that the Exchange maintanence is not falling in the same time window when the backup is running.
