backup not delete after retation period backup exec

Dear All,

Please note I do not a clear idea with the backup exec.

I have this problem in my backup exec environment. After the 2-week retention period backup(bkf files) keeps in my local computer backup partition. We only use tape backup. Please help me to resolve this.

Please advise me on how to delete backup manually in exec console.

Thanks

  • What is your backup strategy ?
What is the resource that does not delete ?
Is this a problem with all disk sets ?
Did the problem surface recently or is present from the start ?
If you right click on the backup set and then click Show dependants -> does it show
dependancy on a backup set which has not yet expired ?
If you expire the set 2 times, does it delete i.e. vanish from the screen ?
Are the media for the backup set present in the storage (Enable ShowHiddenMedia and check
backup set details, it shows the media used for that set. Does that exist in the storage?
How large is the disk storage? Can you run an inventory and catalog to check if that helps?

Some of back jobs are already expired.

If you expire the set 2 times, does it delete i.e. vanish from the screen ?

can you also post a screenshot of that set(with show dependants and any other relevant information that is asked in the earlier reply)
And does this article help in any way to understand why that set is not expiring ? ( DLM Article )

The 20th Aug full shows only on disk, did the duplicate not run at that time ?
Right click on that set, click Show dependants in menu and show the screenshot.
Does it show all Tape incrementals only ? If yes, that means the 20th Aug disk set is not getting
deleted since a tape copy does not exists for the disk full. In this case, can you duplicate that disk set to Tape
( for C, D and system state) so that from Tape if you have to do a point in time restore till the latest
incremental ( when sets on disk have expired and deleted), you have the full and all incrementals on tape. I hope this is the case.
BE would not delete the disk set if the duplicate to tape is not done or failed for some reason if Incrementals on tape exists (without it full set)

  • dependancy on a backup set which has not yet expired ?

Some data already expired but have not yet been deleted.
