Backup of Esx host failing

Hi,

I have a 2008 server running backup exec 14.1 Rev 1786 with the Agent for VMware and Hyper-V installed.

I am trying to create a backup job to backup all the vms on a Esxi 5.5.0 host.

I have added to root credentails for the esx host and backup exec is able to browse the host and see all the vms and vmdks but the job fails with the following error

"The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again."

The credentials test is sucessful on the host but not on the vms. The host isnt part of a domain

Do I need to have credentials for each VM?

Thanks

  • For GRT capabilities we may need access to the VMs themselves

    - so for windows VMs you expand the credentials list and change the individual credentials as needed (leaving the ESX credentials for the vCenter or ESX hosts as they are). You also may need to install the Agent for Windows into these VMs and they need to name resolve correctly from the Backup Exec media server.

    - for Linux VM's as we don't do GRT you should put them into their own jobs so that you can disable GRT on their jobs.
