Best solution to back up Citrix Xen Server

    Hi,

     

    1. BE doesn't support XenServer like it does with Hyper-V and VMware, and Veritas also doesn't publish a roadmap. There is no indication they will ever allow GRT-based backups and restores from their software. Your best bet therefore, if you want to use BE, is to do file-level backups, but restoring your VMs becomes very long-winded.

    Symantec System Restore might do this for you, and I would suggest opening this part of your query in a new forum discussion there.

    2. You could install it on its own server, or on an existing. I've done both and either works well. The only thing I would see as hampering the installation of BE on an existing server is if that server dies and you have no other Domain Controller which will handle authentication.
