Bluescreen with 11d

Hello,

I have a Dell 1750, AdaptecSCSI, IBM LTO3 (Ultrium TD3) and Dell 124T (PV Dell 124T) autoloader, all of which are on the 11 HCL. I am able to run a backup using std NTbackup. As soon as I load the backup exec server service and run any tape related job, the server blue screens. I get the following in the server event log

Error code 000000d1, parameter1 20202020, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 f7366429.

The blue screen mentions a device IRQ error. I have tried using both the native and Symantec drivers for the Tape Device (by reinstalling!).

No I havent been able to install the hotfix because the server bluescreen when I attempt this also.

Has anyone bumped into this one. I am very keen to sort this out.

Thanks,

Adam

  • Are there any errors in the Windows event log prior to the blue screen?
  • you'd better disable the removable storage service when you using backup exec.

  • I assume this is a Windows 2003 server?
Have you applied SP1? It makes a lot of fixes to storport.sys.

When you install the Symantec tape drivers, did you choose the "plug and play" version?
