can't delete large files in System Volume Information folder

I've been getting extremely large files (30-70 GB!) in my System Volume Information folder.

I've found reference to this problem with Backup Exec 9 & 10, but not 11.

I followed the instructions at http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/269989.htm and stopped the Volume Shadow Copy service, but I still can't delete these files.  They're filling up my hard drive very quickly (almost 300 GB so far!).

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these files?  And better yet, how to STOP them or have them deleted after a day?
