Data error (cyclic redundancy check) on IDE Tape Drive

Help! I receive the 'Data error (cyclic redundancy check).' error on every attempted backup. All of the possible fixes I can find on the support site point to SCSI problems. The tapes are all new, and the latest drivers are installed (v275676, as of 04-27-05), yet I still get the errors.

I have also unistalled/reinstalled v9.1 BEWS twice to try to start clean.

What else is there!? I haven't had a good backup for months!

Please HELP!!!
