DFS Windows 2003 R2 fails WITHOUT error

BackupExec 10.1 Rev. 5629

Hi there. We've run backup a long time on our server. But suddenly an admin noticed that the byte count was significantly lower than ordinary.

It turned out that one of the larger folders had been upgraded to a DFS sync with a central server. Then we looked into it, and when we entered restore mode, just to discovered that NONE of the folders that took part in a DFS sync was available for restore!

Just before you give me articles for reference and stuff, it is UNACCEPTABLE that BackupExec does not check the byte/file count by double-checking with a normal indexer/dir and compare it to the result after backup is complete. As it was pure luck that we discovered this.

I guess this is somewhat related to the way it reads file or access files, and I would really like to know how I can set up BackupExec to do a correct backup of folders participating in a DFS sync. We have it all set to default.
