DRIVE OFFLINE

HI

I followed step by step this article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH24414&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1285176495535 and problem persists. My Powervault 124T LTO2 drive works perfectly and I checked using NTBACKUP. When you try to manage the unit SYMANTEC BackupExec 11D the unit is offline.

The last configuration I have done is change my LTO2 DRIVE PowerVault currently has a DRIVE QUANTUM CL1001 is the same reference
Originally the unit next PV124T (CL400 LTO2).

I need your help.
  • I suggest disabling your tape library and drive in BE (right click | uncheck 'enable"), deleting your tape library and drive from the BE GUI, stop the BE services.  Make sure the tape library and drive are in the Windows device manager, then start BE services and let it detect your current hardware.

If the device goes offline again, please check the adamm.log file for reasons.

  • Are you sure you deleted the devices and had BE rediscover them?  This log has me curious.  Where you have a "1003", I think you should have a "1011" (or vice versa), as it appears that the library isn't thinking that the drive is associated with that library.  With a single drive library, you should only have TWO device IDs... your log shows THREE unique IDs.

  • You are not using iSCSI, so you can ignore the iSCSI comments and sections of the log.

  •

    Look what I did now:

    1. Delete all drives and re-install with tapeinst.exe

    2. In the device manager the driver is configured as:
        QUANTUM LTO2 TAPE DRIVE
        MANUFACTURER: Certance
        DRIVER PROVIDER: SYMANTEC CORPORATION

    3. Restart BackupExec

    4. ADAMM.LOG complete

Yessssssss it succeeds and I will share the solution.

In BE remove all the drives, robotic units as autonomous units (do not ask me because the Drive appeared autonomous units but was there).

Restart the services, install the drivers with tapeinst.exe and ready.

    Tks all people...
  • I am confused.  Are you saying that you did what I suggested in my first post and it solved the problem?  If so, please give credit for the solution.
