Another thing might be to check to make sure the Alert category(ies) are Active...
Here is how to enable/disable the alert category according the the CHM file (bkupexec_en.chm) in the BackupExec installation folder:
To enable or disable an alert from the Active Alerts pane:
- On the navigation bar, click Alerts.
- Under Views in the task pane, click Active alerts.
- On the Active Alerts pane, select the alert that you want to enable or disable.
- Under Alert Tasks in the task pane, click Alert category enabled.
The alert will be enabled or disabled, depending on the current setting. The error and attention required alert types cannot be disabled.
Not 100% that this is the cause, especially if you infrequently get notifications on occassion, but it might be worth checking.
