Exclude external drives from full backups

I swap backup drives on my backup server, so that I have external drives with month ends, but when I add a new USB drive, its automatically added to my full backups, then if I use the drive as a backup source, the backup includes backup files from other jobs and other USB drives into the latest backup!

  • You can try excluding the file or a drive when you go to edit=>Selection details. There is a global exclusion available if you click on the BE icon extreme left , click configuration and settings=>Job default=>Exclude selections.

    Hope this will help.

  • 1) Expand your selection tree, uncheck the selection for the entire server.

    2) Check only those drives that you want to back up, e.g. C: drive, D: drive.

    3) Do not check the USB drives.

  • Yes, thats what I've had to do, but by doing that, the Simplified Disaster Recovery is no longer available for the server.
