when I format the tape , I can't use it again , is only 5 MB available of 745 GB in the LTO 4,
it happens to all medias that I erase.
- The 5Mb is the space taken up by the metadata. Did you try overwriting the tape after formatting it? You must leave the tape in the Scratch Media Set after formatting. Otherwise it will be write protected.
If you associate a tape with a media set then the overwrite protection period of the media set will immediately apply and the tape will be write protected. Leave it in the Sratch Media Set. After your job uses it, the tape will automatically be associated with the media set targeted by the job.
You don't have to erase (format) a tape to make it overwritable. You just need to associate it with the Scratch Media Set and it would immediately be overwritable.
