Installation Hangs

im trying to test our Disaster recovery plan on a virtual machine (VMware). i have restored the system state and all seems well. i now need to install BE but im having some problems.

after the restore i tried to delete the BE services as they would not start due to me only restoring the system state. when i come to install BE again i get the main wizard fine but when i click on 'Start Backup Exec Installation', nothing happens. if i look in the log i only get a start time and nothing under it.

any ideas?

    Hi,

    Please paste the contents of the bkupinst.log- C:\ Windows-over here.....


    Check whether any events are logged by Windows Installer in Application Event Log.

    If so, please paste them over here....


    Are you trying to install Backup Exec on MSDE instance or an existing SQL Instance...?
