migration BE2010

Hello,

We are about to migrate a files server with BE2010 from a 2003 server x86 to a 2008 server R2 x64.

First,I want to install backup exec 2010 on the new server to prepare the migration. Is it possible ? Does it required another licence key?
Should I re-use the same installation CD or should I download a specific version with 64 bits?

Thank You.

  • ok so I started all the BE services manually in the services.msc , I connect to BE successfully and It create the right server name in the backup exec service manager. Data have correctly moved.

Now I have just to delete the Old server name entry  and add the new server in the publish tab of my remote BE clients.

  • On the Login Screen , in front of the Server name : I can choose SRV_CD6 ( that I want) or SRV_CD4 ( the old one). If I choose one or the other, the backup Exec Service Manager show as status : SRV_CD4  - Started

Maybe I can manually add  'SRV_CD6'  in the backupExec Service Manager ?

  • ...you can choose the option to connect to another server. Do this and see if it works.

  • To be honest, I am really not sure why you're having this issue. I used the TN you did before without incident.

Maybe consider redoing it...follow the TN step-by-step.

  • You're ok that normally, I should have in the backupExec Service Manager , the name of the new Server SRV_CD6  and not the Old one ?

I think I will started all the BE services manually in the services.msc and try to connect.

  • If you can't delete it, then it needs to be edited out of the BEDB...you will need a support call logged for this.

    Thanks!
