No Key Required?

I recently received my new license for the Backup Exec 11d. I went online to the license portal for activation and to receive the license key. After going through the activation process it stated that "The serial number you entered does not require a key. You may continue registering this license but you will not receive a license key." Yet when I attempt to load the software it requires the license key. Can you shed light on this.  Thank you.
