Lat night's incremental has also completed without the error. So the problem has once again disappeared after a full backup run.
I'll mark this as solved again. If the problem reappears before I can upgrade to Backup Exec 2014 I'll check whether I find any *.lck files on the G: drive where the deduplication disk storage resides.
