Remote agent communication failure

I'm trying to backup up servers at multiple remote locations across my MetroE WAN using BE10 and the remote agnet. The backupexec server and the remote servers are 2003 SP1 with the firewall turned off. The jobs fail at various ponts w/ a "network connection to Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost". I know there are numerous issues in the knowledge base dealing with remote agent communication problems. Is there a way to prioritze remote agent communication or change the timeout to try and keep the communication alive?
