Remote Database

During the installation of Backup Exec 10.0, I noticed an option for a remote or local database. In the current situation, each campus server needs its own local database.

However, would it be possible to have Backup Exec refering to both a local and remote database? Or, at least, have job logs saved in a remote network share of some sort?

  • Hello,

    Please elaborate:
    1. Are you referring to installation in local or existing MSDE instance
    2. Are you referring to CAS environment?

  • Nearly all the servers run Windows Server 2003 with no database directly installed. Whatever Backup Exec uses by default it whatever is used.

My question is weither or not it would be possible to have the server installation to report job history and logs to a central database.
  • Hello,
You can use the CASO Option in the 10.0 Version to have a centralised administration.
Please got hrough the following Tn to get an Idea of this Option:
