Shadow Copy Components and System State

I thought I read in the Backup Exec 10d documentation that either the System State (for Windows 2000) or Shadow Copy Components (for Windows 2003 Server) need to be backed up. I tried to locate that information in the 11d documentation, but I can't find it.

If I only back up the Shadow Copy Components for a Windows 2003 Server, can I still do a full restore? Or should I be backing up the System State as well?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

  • Hello Christopher,

It is always recommended to backup both system state and shadow copy components along with the drives to get the full system back in case of a system crash.

    Hope that helps
    Thanks

    Hi Joel,

Shadow Copy Components works the same as System State and it will in reality do a full backup. You need to just select the last time of backup, which in this case is the incremental.
