All local drives, System State, shadow copy components

Hello Experts,

Is it fine if i select All local drives backups in Policy selection. Does it take system state and Shadow copy backup in All local drives policy selection?

Thanks,

  • Yes - the directive ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES includes SCC which also includes SS

(there is a good section in the Admin Guide (vol I) that explains each available directive & what it covers)

  • yes it do take.

unless if you specify them in exclude list of the clients..

you can verify exclude list from GUI---> host properties---> Clients --> exclude list

after suceessfull backup, you can easily browse the backup archive & restore window to check if system state and Shadow copy components are begin backup or not...

  • Hi All,

I was reading somewhere that system state was for 2000, xp and previous version OS and been replaced with shadow copy services after 2003 server as both are same. Pls correct me if i am wrong.

  • system state covers under Shadow Copy Components:\ derivates...

see page number 797 in Netbackup 7.6 admin guide vol 1

Since the Shadow Copy Components contain System State information, the Shadow

The Volume Shadow Copy components include the following:

    ■ SYSVOL
    ■ Active Directory
    ■ Cluster quorum
    ■ Certificate Services
    ■ Registry
    ■ Internet Information Services

    ■ Removable Storage Manager
    ■ Event logs
    ■ Windows Internet Name Service
    ■ Windows Management Instrumentation
    ■ Remote Storage
    ■ Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
