Single Item Restore - Exchange 2010

Hello

I'm trying to restore a single item to an Exchange mailbox. I know I've had no issues doing this in the past using Backup Exec 12.5 and Exchange 2007. We're now on Exchange 2010 and Backup Exec 2010 R3. I'm restoring from tape and have a large enough staging area set. the restore fails pretty quickly though with:

Final error: 0xe000ff00 - Unable to restore some Microsoft Exchange components because one or more of the databases are currently mounted, or because the recovery storage group or recovery database is not properly configured. Use the Exchange System Manager or Exchange Management Console to check the configuration of the recovery storage group or recovery database and the mount status of the databases. Final error category: Resource Errors

Does this now mean I have to dismount the store before I do any restore to it? I haven't had to do it previously and blogs on Exchange restores also don't mention this at all.

Thanks, Paul

  • Do you have the Exchange 2010 Management Tools installed on your Backup Exec server ?

  • Hello

Yes we do and it connects up to the correct Exchange server without issue.

  • Thanks for the reply Craig. I'm going to need to sort out some more disk space first to stage to.
