Supportability question

We are planning to install BE2014 on a existing Win2008R2 server. We have a Exchange2013sp1 on Win2012R2 server. Just need to know if we can backup exchange2013 with ability of restoring individual mail items.

  • BE2014 supports GRT of Exchange 2013 SP1. Refer to the below link.

EDIT: Also refer to Pg# 51 of BE 2014 Admin guide.

  • Hi There, Yes you will definately be able to recover granular items for Exchange 2013 as it is now supported in BE 2014, Please refer to the below admin guide for exact requirements: Page 930 onwards

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC7418

When it comes to GRT for Active Directory on Windows 2012, the BE media server has to be on Windows 2012 as well, this limitation however is only for AD and not exchage 2013 on Windows 2012 so your Windows 2008R2 server should be fine

    Kind Regards,

    Slim

  • And the media server's OS is also fine for protecting Exchange 2013.

    From Admin Guide ~

To protect Exchange Server 2010/2013, you must install Backup Exec on a Microsoft Windows 2008 SP2 or later 64-bit server, Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server, Microsoft Windows Server 2012, or Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 64-bit
