Device Error - The drive hardware is offline
If I went to the event viewer and I found an error minutes before of the time of the alert
event id 7031
BackupExecJobEngine terminated unexpectedly

Please refer the followign technotes to troubleshoot the hardware error. After that gets resolved verify it the service still crashes.
