Unable to connect to remote agent

    1) Make sure you have installed the latest Service Pack for Backup Exec.

    2) Browse to X:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\beremote.exe, check the properties of the

    beremote.exe to find out the version of the remote agent. Both media server and remote server 

    should be using same version of remote agent.

    3) Make sure the remote agent service is started.

    4) Check the windows event viewer for any error message related to the remote agent.

    5) Check the publishing tab of remote agent utility on the remote server, it should contain the media 

    server name.

Remote agent can be updated by updating your current Backup Exec media server, and then push the remote agent again to the remote server.

I would start by restarting the BE remote agent service on the remote server, if backup still fails reboot the remote server.
