Unable to open

We have 10 different servers that we are backing up. We backup multiple sql servers although we do not use the sql agent. On all of our servers we do not have any problems with the backup. On one of our servers we get unable to open on all of the databases. Now I realize that we are not fully protected but want to not have these errors appear. Any suggestions?

  • Hello,

Can you please mention the exact error message ?

In the meanwhile, kindly refer the following steps mentioned in the technote given below:-

Title:- During the backup of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or SQL Server 2000, the Microsoft SQL Server database files ( *. and *. ) are skipped.

    Hope this helps.

  • That is the exact error that we are getting but we have other sql servers that are able to backup the databases without the skipped file message. They are part of the same job also.
  • We suppose you are doing a cold backup of the SQL databases.
Will you check if anything is accessing the respective file which causes the issue.
Has the technote given by us earlier helped you resolve the issue?

  • There is nothing access it at that time, it is a developement server a replica of another server that is being backed up correctly.
  • Hello Miller,

Are you doing hot backups or cold backups ? If you could clarify we can help you further.

    Thanks.
