Enterprise Vault - decommisioning Exchange server

 Hi,

I hope someone can give a reply.

We had 2 Exchange servers 2016 on premise and Enterprise Vault was archiving the mail of all users except :

We have migrated all the users mailbox to office 365, except the mailboxes of users assigned to archiving task and the mailbox of the user to which the services of EV are running.

May we delete the mailboxes of these users (fot the users) and shutdown exchange servers ? We will still able to retrieve old archived email by enterprise Vault ?

From my point of view (as i deleted the archive tasks) i could delete also the AD user assigned to the archiving tasks.

Any suggestion ?

Thanks in advance

User can still access their archive, you need to guarantee there user have permission on the desire archive.

Is you can delete ad user assigned to the archiving tasks.

PS: there is more this to do to decommissioning an exchange server then shut it down.

you should be able to keep the permissions on the archive, aslong as the AD user is still there.

The permissions are inherited from exchange permissions, but you can also set them manually/scripted.
