VsVerify tool V 8.0

Guys, is there a new version of Vsverify tool for V 8.0?

  • Yes you can do that but it would depend on what you are actually trying to achieve from running your report. THe options are quite self explanatory but here is a more in-depth description:-

A report operation counts or displays the contents of a data silo.  Items can be selected by partition, date range and where available by Archive.

A ‘Container’ is an item in which one or more other items are stored, for example, Saveset files, CAB files or Clips.

    Option

    Description

    Container count

    Reports count of Containers

    EV Container count

Reports count of Enterprise Vault Containers.  If a data silo can store items created by other applications ‘foreign’ items are not counted.

    EV Object count

Reports counts of Enterprise Vault objects, which are defined as Savesets and SIS Parts

    Containers

    Reports all Containers.

    EV Containers

Reports all Enterprise Vault Containers.  If a data silo can store items created by other applications ‘foreign’ items are not reported.

    EV Objects

Reports all Enterprise Vault objects, which are defined as Savesets and SIS Parts

    EV Vault Store Objects

Reports all Enterprise Vault, which are defined as Savesets and SIS Parts, additionally selected by Vault Store.

Not all options are available for all types of data silo.  For example, it is assumed that databases will not contain non-EV items and a ‘Containers’ option will be processed as ‘EV Containers.

A verify operation scans one data silos, compares the results with the contents of other data silos and reports problems to the log file.  Items can be selected by partition, date range and where available by Archive.  The available options are:

    Option

    Description

    Archive Objects

    1.     Verifies that each Saveset record points to a valid Saveset in a partition.

    2.     Verifies that each SIS Part record points to a valid SIS Part in a partition.

The level of verification is also set:

    ·         Container exists – File, CAB file or Clip containing a Saveset, SIS Part or Converted Content exists·         Container contains object – CAB file or Clip is opened to check that it contains the Saveset, SIS Part or Converted Content item·         Object can be extracted from container – Saveset , SIS Part or Converted Content file is extracted from a CAB file·         SIS Parts match – A Saveset’s SIS Parts as defined in the Vault Store database match the Saveset SIS Part Map·         SIS Part fingerprints are valid – The SIS Part and Converted Content items are valid and the fingerprint is correct. ·         Saveset, SIS Parts and Converted content can be retrieved and recombined into a Saveset object

    Database references

    1.     Verifies that each Saveset located in a partition is pointed to by a Saveset record in a Vault Store database, and if collected that the Collection record is correct.

    2.     Verifies that each SIS Part located in a partition is pointed to by a Fingerprint Catalogue record, and if collected that the Collection record is correct.

    Database linkages

    1.     For each Vault Store database checks that the reference count in a collection record matches the number of Savesets listed as a member of a collection.

    2.     For each SIS Part in the Fingerprint Catalogue verifies that reference count matches the number of references in the Vault Store group’s Vault Store databases.

    3.     For each archived item verifies that each SIS Part reference exists in the Fingerprint Catalogue.

    Complete

    1.     Performs ‘Database linkages’

    2.     Performs ‘Archive Objects’ at Savesets can be retrieved’ level

  • Yes it is called evsvr and can be found in the enterprise vault directory. Please note that in the release version of EV8 this is just a reporting tool and there is no fix functionality. This is going to be incorporated into a SP and believe we are looking at SP1 from the last updates but as always that is not guaranteed.
  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for your response, I found it is superceded by EVSVR, just a question if I have to do a vsverify will it be a matter of Edit with Operation- Verify // Option - Archiveobjects //Level - ObjectContainerExists. and then start the process.
