2008 R2 Hyper-V Host with 2012 R2 guest error 4201

Master Server - Windows 2008 R2 

Media Servers Windows 2008R2 & Windows Server 2012

Netbackup Version - 7.6.1.1

Policy Config - Hyper-V using Provider auto\system advance attributes

Hyper-V Servers - Windows 2008 R2 standalone and clustered servers (Same issue on both)

I am trying to configure online backups using the hyper-v agent on 2008 R2 host with 2012 & 2012 R2 quest. Here is the error message:

These servers will backup fine when the option is selected for "enable offline backup for non-VSS VMs". I would really like to leave these server online.

 

Any help would be great!

  • Have you checked that the hyper-v integration service is installed on the VMs ?

    As your hypervisor OS is a lower version than the VM's OS, have you checked that online backup is supported  by microsoft for this configuration ?

    Also check the event logs on the VMs and Hyper-V host for entries by VSS and volsnap and other errors at time of the problem

     

  • Sorry I am still having the same issue. I have submitted a ticket with Symantec for a solution. I'll let you know the outcome once the ticket has been resolved!
